I was hoping you can help me on this. I bought a 20" AR-15 upper 25 yrs ago and it has a "C" on the Bolt Carrier - I recently bought (new at a gunshop via Davidsons) a California M4 Colt and noticed its Bolt Carrier does NOT have the "C" - - is that normal? Just wondering . . .
Thanks

The "C" denotes that Colt made it.....the rest of the makers have no marks on theirs.

So if it does not have a "C" - it is not a Colt.

Can't say for sure if it has a "C", it's a Colt. Also can't say for sure if it doesn't have a "C", it's not a Colt. Only can say every Colt I've bought has a "C".

does the bolt say MPC?

as far as I last heard, they still marked their carriers with a C.

have you checked both sides of the carrier?

I'd ask the same question on arfcom, maybe in the ar15 retro section.

Dpms carriers used to be marked with a D, and sometimes the stamp was so crooked that it looked like a backwards C...

My 'Calif.' M4 does, for what it's worth, on the left side of the carrier near the cam pin. And MPC on the bolt.
