Heckler & Koch HK41 or the Heckler & Koch SL8?

If they were in CA legal configurations?

Yes the HK-41 is the predecessor to the HK-91 and is legal in the Peoples Republic Of California configured correctly as is the HK-43 which is the predecessor to the HK-93.

Im not sure about the HK-SL8

IIRC, someone has a SL8, but you have to either fix the mag or fill in the stock. To me, it would make more sense to have an AR....or an SL7

They have mag locks already.

A SL8/G36 clone would be cool, if it didn't require another home mortgage to pay for it. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/images/icons/icon11.gif

You can lock the mag in a G36 clone (with AR mag well) in about 10 seconds- I've seen it done. you just stuff a bunch of crap under the button so it can't be pushed :D

The SL8 has a paddle mag release, and the paddle can be cut so it won't release without a screwdriver. May as well just plug the thumbhole on the SL8 though.

There is a market for just about any rifle in California, only thing is, the size of the market effects whether or not its worth while to a company to produce it.

i have a CA legal SL8 and USC i just filled in the thumb hole with some well cut plexiglass a long screw and some super glue, it looks pretty good and i can still have the detachable magazine. FYI the SL8 mag is kinda difficult to load since its a single stack.

in my opinion an SL8 converted to a G36 is way cooler then an AR you just dont see them as much as AR's.

I have a registered bushmaster and even though my SL8 has a thumbhole and can only hold 10 it's more smoother to shoot, accurate, lighter, WAY easier to clean, the most AR's I'v ever shot. oh yeah it's got H&K on the side
(i suppose my screen name should explain that one)

just that damn 10 round magazine sucks

just my .02 cents,

BTW a POF gas piston AR is just as smooth, as soon as I can recuperate the funds i spent on the SL8 I'm going to put one of their uppers on my bushmaster
