Sorry for such a newbie question. Is there a special pin that is holding the front sling swivel in place on a stag AR upper that sits right behind the bayonet lug? Or can I just use a standard punch to remove it? I've tried a punch but it aint budging. I thought I'd ask here before I really use brute force. TIA!

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the bottom sling swivel, not the side sling swivel that has the barrel clamp thing that is attatched via 2 roll pins. The bottom sling swivel is attatched to the front site post.

It should be a rivet, not pin.

It should be a rivet, not pin.

Bottom sling is a rivet.....

Use a dremel or a drill and remove a little metal.....from the rivet.....this will make it much easier to punch out...........;)

The rivet is 1/8" diameter.
If you use a 5/32" drill bit very carefully, you can drill out the hollow end until the folded open part breaks off.
Then the rest of the rivet will come right out with a 1/8" punch.

You can also use a 1/16" punch in the center of the hollow rivet and drive it through.
This unfolds the folded part, but more likely breaks the 1/16" punch.
