I have a DPMS oracle 5.56 rifle and I am looking to put a 16" bull barrel on it. What are my options for good 5.56 barrels? I know DPMS puts one out but I cant find it anywhere that is not all ready a complete upper and since I only want the barrel I am looking for other options.

Buy any length barrel you can find, cut a couple inches off and re-crown it(or have a shop do it for you). 16" bull barrels aren't exactly something I've seen be very popular. With the weight gain you might as well go 18"-20".

Umm, you noticed the "not in stock", right? I think that's what the OP was referring to with regards to not being able to find one he could actually buy(without waiting on backorder who knows how long)

i have one of these barrels on my ar, bought the 18" version cause i wanted a mid length gas system and have it chopped down to 16" threaded and crowned. also had to have the barrel turned down just a tiny bit for it to fit in my DD lite rail.

I have heard good things about White Oak Armament's barrels here. However that's going to be an 18".

OP, out of curiosity, why a bull barrel? Accuracy? Balance?

One piece of advice, do not have a heavy barrel threaded with the standard 1/2x28 threading. The purpose of having a bull barrel is to maximize your precision. 1/2x28 threading relieves so much metal that the end of the bore swells very slightly. Having a loose bore at the crown reduces your precision. Many companies ignore this becuase the reduction in accuaracy still falls within their acceptable range, or they don't think their customers will notice. Have the barrel target crowned or use non-standard threading that leaves the barrel near its original dimensions.
