Aimpoint is good

+1 Aimpoint with Swan mounted on the scout rail = sweet!
EOTECH all the way. Makes a beautiful combo!
Unless of cause you have enough $$$ to spend on ECLAN SpecterDR

I like an Aimpoint mounted above the receiver
One of my friends just brought in his Socom 16 with an Aimpoint Comp M4 to work. Gives it a very clean look; not too bulky. Comp M4 is somewhat expensive at $698. I'm sure you can find them cheaper somewhere else. But that's what LanWorldInc.com has them at. My buddy picked his up for about $400, only because he used to work at Turner's Outdoorsman.

I have a one and have gone through a few optics on it already. EOTechs, Aimpoints, etc. I still can't decide. I switch it out maybe every other range trip.
In general, the EOTech is a better optic than an Aimpoint, IMHO. I think that's pretty much the consensus, though. It's clear, it's more adjustable and the circle/1MOA dot is a little better. That being said, I like the look of the Aimpoint on the rail. It just looks like it belongs.
Now I'm thinking I want something magnified. One option is the EOTech 557, the other is a scope.
I've been seriously considering this:
1.8-10X... so sweet... I need to find someone/someplace that has one.
