View Full Version : Tough day for VEPR at Cow Mountain today

Broken extractor, and destroyed POSP scope... tough day. Very strange. Tried some Winchester soft points, which felt like they were loaded a bit hotter than the surplus. Could that have caused it?
Anyways, already in contact with TGI and kalinka to get these fixed up.

Ouch! How many rounds have you put through it?

How did your scope get damaged? I just put a monster scope on mine.
Also, could you possibly post some pics?

I don't have any pictures yet, but when researching this issue, I found this. My extractor looks similar to the one in the pics in that thread.
I don't come to the conclusions that the OP in that thread did. I'm just linking it for the pics.
Hopefully TGI helps me out quickly.
Edit: Forgot to say, I have around 350-400 rounds, so not much at all. The scope seems like two things happened. The adjustable diopter / objective looks like its got a weird pattern / cracks on it. Also there's a lens or something loose inside that I can hear.

Well, the Winchester Metric is 180gr heavy ball while the surplus may have been a light ball ammo. You could probably feel that difference.
I never put heavy ball thru my SVT due to it being harder on the action. Hope you figure out your problem

I definitely felt the difference. However, the scope busted before shooting the heavy stuff. And the rifle has been said to be able to handle all range of commercially available ammunition (from chief engineer at Molot).

Man,its sucks. I dont know what to say, shooting 174gr Silver Bear all the time ,12-1500 rounds no problem,my POSP 3-9X42 solid ,how many round of HB did you put through ?what POSP scope do you have and where did you get it?
I would contact MOLOT

I had a 4-10x VariPosp (the one with adjustable diopter). I have a feeling that extra piece is what failed, however like I said the scope failed before i was shooting heavy ball. I got the scope from Kalinka and I am already in contact with them to have it repaired / replace (it is within 1 year warranty).
I am sure WPA / TGI will make things right.
I only shot 6 rounds of the heavy ball. Until that point the gun was shooting great.

Quick update, received my bolt back from WPA with extractor replaced.
