Can anyone recommend a quality lower parts kit for a .308? I've heard DPMS is middle of the road, 'generic', company. You know this stuff is expensive. It's worth it to have nice stuff.

Do you have a DMPS pattern lower or an AR10 pattern lower?

You mean Armalite or DPMS?

I'm asking on behalf of my lazy friend who hasn't signed up at the forums yet. All I know is it's a JD Machine Tech lower. Isn't Armalite illegal in California? I'm not 100% sure on the laws.

I think that's gonna be a DPMS.
Most Armalite lowers are illegal. I think there may be one that's Cali legal but that pattern isn't illegal. Don't quote me on this cuz I don't know too much about 10s

Just get a DPMS lpk. You might want to change the trigger.

DPMS branded will work perfectly fine.

CMMG lpk worked fine in my TM308 (DPMS pattern) lowers. Also, if you are using a Raddlock, you will need an actual Armalite mag catch as suggested. The threads are about an 1/8" longer and makes all the differance.

Ps,
I did drop in a Timmney trigger. Stock trigger worked fine, but you can't beat a Timmney of Geissele!!

Why would Armalite lowers be illegal? What rule are they breaking?

Why would Armalite lowers be illegal? What rule are they breaking?

1. Because they didn't pay enough money to the California bureaucracy to get that particular lower on the approved list.
2. Not necessarily braking any rules (see #1)

You have no idea what you are talking about.
There is no approved list for rifles.
Maybe you are confusing the AWB with DOJ Handgun Roster?

Appendix B
AR Series
[...]
Armalite: AR 10 (all), M15 (all)

The Armalite AR 10 is banned by name in the CA AWB. This does not mean that they "didn't pay enough money". It just means that it was a rifle that was identified and banned by name.

Now that does not mean that Armalite style or pattern rifles are banned, only rifles marked Armalite AR10. (unless its another named rifle).
