I have a vtac by jp free float rail system. I have not mounted it. Is this going to be worth the time to insatll? Will it get too hot? Or should I just go with the moe front hand gaurd?

I like them a lot although the new VTAC XTR or Samson Evo handguards are better, lighter and cheaper. You will need to red loctite the barrel nut on the original JP VTAC so that part kinda sucks.

I like my JP VTAC a lot. That being said, unless you are also using the JP Barrel Heatsink, as SuperSet states above there are lighter options of similar quality.

i have a VTAC on my AR and i like it alot, locktiteing the barrel nut was a little werid but it works. my only complaint is that the add on rails are pretty pricey for what they are.

question , install sling mount on that handguard , can it be done without removing the handguard ?

I got it on and it looks kewl but it might be over kill with a 1\7 16 inch barrel. Rails super pricy. I got it for 60 buck so ithought it was a good deal but won't buy one again.

If you're talking about a QD mount, you attach that to a small piece of rail that attaches to a backer. You don't have to remove the VTAC handguard to attach the piece of rail.
