View Full Version : Optimize Safe Space

I've got 2 older Cannon Series safes (62hX24wX18d), which I have outgrown. I'm going to be adding a third safe, but I'm limited to the size, as I have to locate it upstairs(post tension slab, and even if I wanted it in the garage, there's no room anyway). I was thinking of re-organizing everything, perhaps making one safe for rifles only, the other for pistols. I know that a "24 gun" never seems to hold that many, but do you find that an all rifle config in the safe yields better capacity? I have them both split in a 1/2 rifle, 1/2 shelf config at the moment. Before I take everything out, I thought I get some opinions first.

What say you?

I put pistols on the door for the most part and then rifles inside. It has worked pretty well.

Iíve come across vids on youtube where people make their own organization accessories and they seem to cram a good density of guns into a safe... Take a look at this for example.

Just search around, plenty of DIY vids and ideas out there.

hi whytea

My setup is kinda like this. Its cleaner now after I covered everything up. There are around 14 long guns in there now, and room for plenty more.

just buy the cheap pistol/rifle nylon case/mat and put them side by side...

You can cram more in, but risk dinging up stocks...unless you use gunsocks. I would rather buy another safe than fumble around constantly trying to get to an overstuffed safe.
