Looks cool, packs a punch with 'reasonably' priced and available ammo. What would I do with it?

I finally caved in and have a AR/AK combo

And am already looking into a AR/AK pistol set to match.

Do any of us need one.. Naw! But since when has that stopped any of us :D

IMHO AK and AR pistols are fun but not very functional (and 'Yes" I own a few).
With a red dot sight, and single point sling they are good out to about 50 yards standing on a Zombie sized target (center mass shot) but beyond that might as well be throwing rocks. Without optics (irons only) cut that distance in half.
So the question should be,"Do I have the cash to buy something that would be fun to play with or do I want to put my money into something that would be more functional to longer distances?"
That being said I still have fun with mine, and have no intent on selling them. :)

Im wondering the same thing.
Ive got a Draco, and honestly Ive only shot it a few times. Not one of my favorites.
At this point its either turn it into a carbine or sell it. Heck Id trade it straight up for a full size AK.

Get it, shoot it, clean it, put it away. Keep repeating it over and over again.

You don't need it but get one any way.

They can be more accurate than Nico describes. A friend of mine has an AR pistol that shoots easy 4" groups with irons off hand at 50 yards. An AK might not be that accurate but it won't be horrible unless something is wrong.

Do you need it? Probably not. Do you want it? Obviously, or you wouldn't have posted this thread.

If you can afford it, your credit cards are paid off why not? If you are not flush with cash, pay off the bills before buying toys.

I had one because it was cool. But I sold it because it was not practical. Shooting it was fun. Ammo was cheap. But it was a challenge to hit targets constantly. Even using a sling and pushing the gun away from my body to help steady it didn't help much. I wouldn't have gotten rid of it if I could have put a stock on it. But thats not going to happen in CA.

If you're looking for a practical use for it ... you don't really "want" one!

Now, if you're looking for a story that will convince your wife that every sensible household should have at least two of them .. try the old "..shoots magic bullets.." line.

Guys, what has worked for you? LOL

Yes, you need one if you want one.
I have similar one and it's VERY accurate to 100yd. Good sling setup and good red dot/reflex sight is a must otherwise it would be a short range weapon, similar to a regular handgun.

Everyone should have one of these because they are fun to shoot with. Not a lot of people would actually need an AK, AR, Sig 556, MP5, etc pistols, but hell yeah those things are out of stock all the damn time!

I got an MP5k pistol. It is less practical than my cz 75, but it is more fun! This hobby is about fun as all hobby are!

I find NO practical use for a .223/5.56 pistol.

why do you have to have a practical reason for owning something? this kind of thought process from our own folks, is how gun laws keep getting pushed through. its a firearm, is our right to have one, thats all the practical use it needs. practical is a matter of opinion. its fine if you dont want one, but dont try to put it down because someone else does.

I built an AMD pistol that is absolutely absurdly accurate with the irons. It's a very short, relatively light, rifle-caliber pdw-style gun. It is what it is, and if that's useful to you go right ahead. They're also really fun, so yes definitely get one ;)

I own one because, I built it. I really did just built it as a "FU" to CA. I mean what better way to legally give CA the finger than to legally own an AK pistol with no serial number, no registration and no paper trail at all? Would I buy a production AK pistol? Maybe. I bought a MAC clone just to do it. But, I would not suggest buying one as anything other than a political statement or a curiosity. They just are not practical.

You apparently are a good rock thrower. I have a Draco and can easily hit a 10" target at 150 yards with a red dot sight. I also shoot clays at 450 yards with my AR. With a Remington 700 my son picks up the pieces at the same range. My Marine buddy can shoot clays at 150 yards with his 1911 45ACP. What you can hit at what range is totally what a persons skills are.

My AK pistol can consistantly (80% & 75%) hit the 200 & 300 yard gongs at Angeles. But, then again, I'm a lefty with glasses. I'd think a righty should be able to hit asprin at a mile without any problems. a soda can at 50 yards should be a no brainer.

Yes and yes. There are two ATF emails saying it remains a pistol as long as a stock can not be attached. So as a pistol without the mag in the grip, it just needs a bullet button.

Nobody said airborne or moving. Clays make great reactive rifle targets and are allowed at most public shooting areas.

Draco's are awesome! I got one. I wish I had more! the trick to accuracy is to hold it right up to your face. Most people get psyched out because of the AK's reputation for jumping, but that little draco aint goin anywhere. If you want to shoot targets 200-300 yards away, I would suggest a rifle, but don't sell the draco short. Its an awesome gun. And almost always the envy of the shooting trip. Its worth more just to show your buddies and watch them drool.

it's one weld and you can take it off with a dremel...
a little research which lead me to purchasing... Yugo Krinks kits not too long ago went for $1000-$1200, current kits are in the $550-$650 range...
Unlike the Draco which were Romanian AK parts converted to a AK Pistol
the Yugo M92 is an actual Krink modified for the US market and is from a reputable manufacturer.. I remember back in the mid-90s Kinks were in the $2000 range and very rare... it is just me, but I think the price point might change soon...
