View Full Version : Cheapest Way to Increase LOP on 870
09-17-2012, 8:55 AM
I'm still new here, so forgive me if this question has been beaten to death previously. My search results didn't yield too much, so here goes: I just bought an 870 Super Magnum Express, and need to extend the LOP at least another inch.
I'm 6'4, 215, and next to broke. Do you guys have any affordable solutions to my long-armed problem? Someone more experienced recommended that I try a 15.5", and maybe even a 16" LOP.
Thanks for your help!
slip on recoil pad. about $10-15. any gun shop or big5 or walmart will have them.

^^ that will be your cheapest route^^^ should get a least another inch out of it if not a little more.

yup, cant go wrong with limbsaver, but in reality, especially if money could be an issue, get what you can find.

wear a thick jacket in the winter or tape a sock to your shoulder under your shirt.

Limbsaver or you could go the custom route.

Shims between the recoil pad and butt stock . . . a much cleaner solution.

I have a grind to fit on my 870 and your shouldr will also thank you after a long day of shooting. However if you wanna go the super cheap route you could probably make shims out of plastic but the finish may suffer depending on your skill level at crafting things.
