I was looking at some of Fulton Armory's M1A rifles - www.fulton-armory.com (http://www.fulton-armory.com/fultonarmoryusriflecal762mmm14-1-1-1-3.aspx), and they putting bullet buttons on their CA-compliant versions.

Springfield seems to replace the flash supressor with a muzzle brake and ship it with a 10-round magazine.

If I buy a Fulton rifle, replace the flash suppressor with a muzzle brake and remove the bullet, will that still be legal?

Where does the bullet button come in? If you stay with an old-school stock, no bullet button is needed.

Or are you looking at getting an EBR stock? I see that Fulton has CA-Compliant AR lowers, but I didn't find any CA-compliance stuff for M1As on their site (didn't look very hard though.)

It's needed if it has a flash suppressor.

Another option for the front end would be this thing from LRB arms:

FLASH SUPPRESSOR, DUMMY with bayonet lug..........$79.95
Non functional barrel "ornament" designed to look like original flash hider.
Machined from bar stock. Made in U.S.A. for LRB.

Standard item on our California rifle/bbl action builds....N/C

I'll probably stick with a brake though, until I move to a free state.

Oh, right. I didn't consider that because it doesn't seem a worthwhile tradeoff to lose the detachable magazine just to get the flash-hider, but I do see your point.

Just select the Compensator on the muzzle device drop down menu, and you won't need a BB. As long as you don't order a stock with a pistol grip that is.

Spend the $$$ and get the SEI Coast Guard brake. It is worth it compared to the Springfield brake. Night and day difference in my book.
