View Full Version : Want a pistol with a scope

Just got my comission check and I think I would like to get a pistol with a scope on it I just don't know which one I want. I was kind of looking at the Ruger Super Redhawk in .44mag, but it is almost $1K and feeding it might get expensive. My other thought is the .22LR Ruger model 22/45 with a rail for a scope.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank You

Get a T/C Contender in something like 22lr Match or .223 if you want a bigger boom :)

Extremely accurate, made for scope use...fun to shoot.

Can change barrels/cartridges in seconds with zero FFL involvment, just order the barrel online. Been shooting them since before I was a teenager, awesome firearms.

Feeding both the 22lr Match and .223 would be cheap too :)

Browning Buckmark with a TacSol Barrel. I love mine. It is so much fun to bounce a can around 50 yards with a handgun. You also get a lot of gun envy from other shooters at the range when you pull something like this out of your case :43:.

I Like that Browing a lot, what distance was that target? Did you put that barrell on? How much do you have into that gun?

Check out the price of .44 magnum rounds. Ouch. I suggest a nice .357/.38 - 686/586/66 or Ruger GP101 or equivalent. But I'd talk to a smith about mounting a scope first..

That target was at 40 yards, off hand (the gun shoots much better than me). The barrel is easy to install yourself (one screw in front of the trigger guard). I've got about $900 or so invested in it total.

Gun - $350 (Buckmark Standard)
Barrel - $300 (10" Tactile Solutions Trail Lite)
Scope - $200 (2x32 Bushnell Trophy)
Scope Mount and Rings - $50

IIRC Taurus also has scope rails for some of their revolvers. The 627 Tracker in .357 comes to mind.

Mark III with an Aimpoint Micro R-1:

With $20 for a 500rd bulk pack of ammo, and the price of admission to the range, you're good for several hours.

These are great thanks everyone!

Press, how is the grip angle on your Ruger? It seems a little excessive to me.

The grip angle suits me perfectly fine, and it should be noted that I am a 1911 guy. Granted, it appears to share Glock's overly swept angle, but it does not, and is VERY comfortable, especially in the Modern Isosceles target stance.

Thanks!

that was my first thought.....and just about any caliber you can think of. i got to shoot a 444 marlin, in a T/C, and a friend had a 45/70, that i didn't want to shoot, at the time. another friend had/has again, a 223, and 30-30, barrels, for his t/c

Scope Mount:

The barrel increased long rang (50 yard) by a significant amount. The really big difference though is the weight. The 10" TacSol barrel weighs about 1/2 of what the factory 5.5" slab side barrel does. I don't think they make a 10" barrel anymore though. I think 7.25" is the longest currently available.

Damn I have been wanting a 22lr Pistol and that pretty much seals the deal for me on the Buckmark. Thanks for the pictures and explanation of everything. Time to slowly acquire everything.

These would be my only two choices. :D

And since I can shoot practically a 1" group at 25 yds. with my Buck Mark Micro (and its stock iron sights), my vote goes for the Buck Mark. ;)

Having a good scoped .22 plinker makes for a fun day at the range. (also a good camping gun for hunting small game).

Mine goes back to a Ruger Mk2. Killed a lot of rabbits with this thing. (we had an infestation at the Airport; a bunch of us would get on the hanger roof and plink away) (this was in the good-old-days of course)
(opps....ignore the Uzi in the backround...)

She had 12 round magazines. Very reliable.

Recently I wanted something with more power and so I use this Glock 20 platform running a 9x25 barrel. Zeroed in at 150 yards. Lots of fun to shoot.

I had this one for about a week. I showed it to a friend and we made a trade before I even got to shot it.
