I just received my 2010 Dan Wesson PM-7 (forged stainless steel) back from Severns Customs, NV (https://severnscustom.com/) . I am very impressed. I knew Dave did fantastic work, but his attention to detail really impressed me, FWIW. If you are familiar with Dan Wesson, you know they are quality guns (no MIM parts), and the fitment is already extremely good, for a non-custom built gun.

Work Done:
* Kart Match barrel - custom smith Hard fit (a Severns custom specialty)
* Ed Brown Maxi-well Magwell, blended to frame.
* Integrated Undercut trigger guard
* FS 25 LPI checkering
* Hand Fitted EGW Oversize barrel bushing
* EGW Guide and Rod Plug - Over size
* Level II dehorning entire pistol
* 11 Target crown cut on barrel (absolutely PERFECT job - you'd have to run your fingers over it, LOL)
* Countersunk frame & shortened & flattened slide stop
* Satin Glass Bead finish – entire pistol
* Dawson Precision Green FO front sight installed
* Severns custom Trident engraved on frame
* Ammo for Test function - firing
* Additional WC tuned extractor
* FedEX overnight shipping

Test firing came back at 0.7” 4-shot group, 1.1” 5-shot group, off hand at 25 yards.

I choose to leave the trigger stock, it was good. Total work came in at less than $1,500. I entered Severns Que, in Feb 2011. The wait then was 12 mos. In 12 mos. They contacted me, and I sent Dave my Pistol. I just received in on 9/11. What a great date to receive such a sweet shipment. All gunsmiths are swamped – and apparently, great gunsmiths are not taking work.

As I understand it, Dave Severns is accepting work on a limited basis, from a recent email from him - today. Please contact him if work is desired, he does FANTASTIC work.

The nicest I've seen on Cal Guns in awhile. A true blaster to be proud of. Congratulations.

Just for a little perspective, here is the same gun, prior to the custom work done:

These pics don't quite show it well, but it had SS polished flats (shiny flats on the slide), and a SS finish - maybe BB, or something on the frame, etc. Maybe others know better the description of that finsh...

You could have bought 3 Rugers man... 3. Looks good though, Severns sure loves those Dan Wessons. Any particular reason you decided to skip hard hat finish?

^ I was wondering that myself.

I am thinking about getting the slide on my V-bob hard hatted and having a two-tone Dan Wesson.

Super nice. I love my PM7 which is not customized like yours is. Still shoots a ragged shot group though:

Sorry, but all the Ruger's in the world are not equal to a Dan Wesson....especially one tuned by Dave Severns!

Very nice pistol Chiselchst :) Unless you handle and shoot one and know what you're looking at many people will always question why the custom pistols cost what they do.

Dave Severn's does amazing work. I have several 1911's he's modified, from just slightly to full custom. My favorite is a full custom pre-80 Colt Combat Commander that had the frame rails welded and a Kart NM barrel hard fit, it shoots amazingly well.

Super nice guy with great communication; he's just one busy son of a gun so the waits are long, although not as bad as some of the bigger names.

I wanted something a little different (as far as the finish goes). It was a tough decision - I did go back and forth quite a bit...

RE Ruger; I'm not a Ruger fan personally, but I get the point. I wanted something very nice.

Thanks

Nah, I was referencing the (what I thought was infamous) thread regarding Ruger 1911's vs Les Baer/other semi-custom 1911's... I'm not a fan either.
