I shot my friends HK 9mm last week and its pretty sweet! Now I am tempted to look into one myself.

Does anyone else have history with them?

Nope. No history with your friends and certainly can't meet them now since you've shot them.

HK has made a lot of 9mm handguns over the years. Which model did you fire?

I was thinking the same thing when I seen the title. Is it your first pistol purchase? If so you may want to shoot other handguns and make your decission then. Hk's shoot great. but so do a lot of other pistols.

If it's a USP you're referring to then they're solid guns.
I little top heavy and bulky for my taste, but they are very well built and engineered guns.

For combat pistols they are over priced IMO. With all the competition out there I'd choose something else over HK USP. Glock is a great alternative for way less money. Nowadays everyone makes a polymer pistol. The choices are vast.
Sig makes all metal combat pistols which I prefer to the USP as well.

If you can shoot a bunch of different brands and see what you like best.

On a more serious note, which model H&K did you shoot? USP, USP compact or P2000? P7M8 or PSP? Those are the more common ones.

H&K makes good quality pistols their fit and finish is usually very good. If you can find out the model you're interested in and we can provide more insight on the specific gun you're looking into. Lots of H&K owners on Calguns.

HK 9mm handguns serve no legitimate sporting purpose. I believe that no civilians should own the HK brand death ray.

HK's suck. the HK .40 jams all the time and explodes if you feed it reloads. the plastic they use is cheap and will break in half if you drop it or it will melt if you use it to much. if you want a quality handgun get a hi point. they are great.

One little apostrophe is all it takes to change the meaning of something from "fun" to "felony". Our public edgemacation systems truly needs work.

I also can't get behind HK as a company...

to get feedback, it would be most helpful for you to mention the HK model your friend owns.

welcome to the forum.

That's why HKs are awesome. You can load the rounds backwards and they still fire.

*WARNING: Do not attempt to do this!!!*

For poly guns, "the ones i have shot" my list of comfort in the hands go's a little like this

XD> HK> M&P> Glock.

I still need to shoot the Cz p-07 or p-09 and the p99 to compare.

Glock needs to step up their game, it feels like holding a plastic brick in my hand and the angle of the grip is way to extreme. I find my self having to point a little downward after the draw. I'm sure after some practice this wouldent be a problem.

Are your friends OK?

I thought you were contemplating of running or turning yourself in. LoL!

Anyway, it's always nice to shoot friends, I mean friend's guns. The only drawback to that is wanting what your friend have due to all the sales pitch and how awesome friend's guns are - coming from friends that is. I'd say if you can afford it get it.

 was waiting for someone to make this reference.
Wonder if tanking a magazine and pissing off all of your advertisers and your readers after 4 issues is going to be referred to as getting "Recoiled" soon....haha

Not to go too off topic...Long story short, a new gun publication basically dug their own grave after they wrote a review of the H&K MP7 in their 4th magazine.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/09/robert-farago/readers-recoil-from-recoil-magazine/

ANYWAYS....USP's are great guns but they are expensive, i have a USP .40. My future brother in law has an M&P 9mm that is a great gun and is very comfortable to shoot and way cheaper! go out and try a bunch and see what fits your hand and wallet best! Good Luck!

I had seen a couple posts on here about recoil magazine stirring up the pot recently, but didn't know about what. I own an hk usp .45 myself, which is why i was wondering about the hk reference. thanks for the link.

I have the HK USP.40 great gun! Very reliable and accurate. I just wish I had bought the 9mm myself. I like the .40 but I shoot a lot and the ammo gets expensive real fast. I also have Glocks and they are very reliable and accurate. If you want the HK get it you won't regret the purchase. Like I said I have the HK USP and the Glock both great guns. I know both will go bang every time, but the I like the look and feel of my HK more than the Glock. The HK is worth every penny if it is the gun you want to own.

HK is cool, not my cup of tea tho... for poly guns I rather just stick with XD, M&P, or Glock. For that kinda money, I rather get a Sig.

I just think it cost too much... this guy know what Iím talkin about.

I believe the S in the LS stands for Safety. The P30LS has a much shorter slide stop since they needed to make room for the safety lever.
