I have been looking for a 22 mag double action revolver for several years now. I check every gun shop that I am ever close to and have only found one, a s&w for over a thousand dollars. I think there is only one or two on the roster but surely there are some older models around. Anyone ever see anything in there local gun store or know of anything available?

Taurus has a .22mag revolver, 10 shot. I saw one a few weeks ago at my LGS. Pretty nice, I think it was a 2 inch barrel.

There's a really nice Colt 22 mag here in the classifieds. Nickel color with 9.5" barrel. $600

Be patience, you will find one sooner or later. A S&W you will not be disappointed with. You will have to pay big $$ for it though.
A 48 or 648 are the only medium frames on the current roster. The 648 is no longer on S&W's website. Pricy yes. I look at these as my "two guns in one" purchase, save up and you won't be disappointed. Buds Guns has the 48 for $738.00/$753.00 4"/6" shipped.
Good luck

You should be able to get a Taurus 22 Magnum with 5" barrel for under $400 (MSRP is $498). I shot one a couple of weeks ago while on vacation (cousin owns one). I thought it was a great gun for the price.

Forget double action revolvers. If we lived in a free state I'd be all over the Kel Tec PMR-30. 30 rounds of .22 mag! To bad someone doesn't do SSE's on them.

I know where there's an M48 fairly cheap but it has serious carry up issue and it looks like Gunsmoke was working on the front sight with a pair of Vice Grips.

Trying to decide if it's worth the $150+ or so it'll take to fix it.

Thought I saw a consignment M48 at Turners in Orange yesterday for $800. It looked nice but $800 is a lot to spend for a gun that costs about the same to shoot as a centerfire.

If you can go single action get a Ruger. Much more afordable and at 20 cents per shot you will probably shoot that double action more in single action mode anyway.

You'd still have to block off the magazines to 10 rounds :(

But yeah, I'd be all over this if we could get them. Can't wait until the carbine version comes out as well. Looks like A LOT of fun.
