I have heard of .22lr rifles that can shoot and cycle cb longs. Is that a myth or true?

Both my Henry H001 and H001Y shoots .22LR, .22 CB Longs and Shorts. I've shot everything from Aguila Super Colibris up to CCI Velocitors through these two rifles.

Semiauto, is what I'm questioning

not likely that CB longs (or shorts, since they both have same velocity) will cycle any proper semi auto. The only way would be to drastically reduce the buffer spring, which in place would cause the bolt to slam violently if standard ammo were ever used.

Basically, you would have to modify with a custom spring and then leave it dedicated to that purpose (or keep swapping spring).

You're not the first to express this desire. The easiest solution is a lever, pump, or bolt. Tube feed will be the best (yes, there are a couple bolt action tube feds). Stacked magazines usually have a hard time with the slightly shorter overall length of super colibris, CB's, etc. plus having nearly 20 CB shorts in the tube is lots of fun.
