Full pack of batteries for the Red Dot Sight

Sweet! Thinking of getting one of those..

09-04-2012, 1:40 PM
I've had mine for a couple months now and have about 1000 trouble free rounds through it(Bulk Winchester and Federal). Enjoy!!!!!

09-04-2012, 1:51 PM
While I was paying the PPT fee I also bought another 10rd mag for it.
And just ordered this as well:
UAG Tactical Dual Mag Holder

That should make the 10rd magazines a little more bearable haha.

I'll range report as soon as I can.
Glad bulk packs work for you chozenfew!
Going to order the Federal bulk pack of 2,100 rounds with ammo case from Cabelas.

09-04-2012, 7:34 PM
MP5 is awesome! Everyone loves shooting it.. Favorite ammo is American Eagle 22lr HV, HP. $17.99 for #400 rounds from Palmetto State Armory. CCI is great but a bit costly.. Worst ammo so far are the Thunderbolts. Cleaning is not as easy as my ar15 but i found a video how to completely disassemble it.

09-05-2012, 8:30 AM
^I can't wait.
Going to be so much cheaper than my other guns to go and have fun for the day.

9 days!

UAG Dual Mag Holder came in.
Perfect fit! Great piece for the price!

7 days!

Where did you order the dual mag holder? I could use one that works with black dog ar22 mags.

09-09-2012, 3:58 PM
Amazon. Just do a search for UAG 22 dual mag.

09-13-2012, 2:33 PM
Pick her up tomorrow!
This arrived today to pair with the RDS nicely:

09-15-2012, 11:32 AM
Picked it up yesterday and got everything installed.
Going to go zero it in today.
Range report soon.
Can't wait!

09-16-2012, 11:31 AM
Sick! I want one!

09-16-2012, 2:31 PM
This thing is so incredibly fun!
We've put about 500 rounds through it in the last two days and only 1 stove pipe!

Even my girlfriend loves to shoot it.
Her groupings at 16.5 yards are kind of scary good :D
Made sure she can operate and load everything herself and broke her chicken wing habit.

Heres one of my last groupings at 16.5 yards unsupported with no magnifier.
(The 10 rounds in the shoot-n-c sticker. The others were from earlier shots)

09-16-2012, 4:55 PM
Looks like your having fun at San leandro, we went today and it was packed!

09-16-2012, 7:24 PM
Were you part of the group shooting long guns inside around noon?
My girl and I were on the lanes farthest to the right.

09-17-2012, 7:03 AM
We were there after 3pm. They closed the outside lanes for a "fun shoot BBQ" and inside was at the limit. Alot of .22lr shooters were there with various pistols, even a mosquito seemed to be functioning, a few mkiii shooters too.

09-17-2012, 7:10 AM
Is the optic on backwards?

09-17-2012, 8:00 AM
even a mosquito seemed to be functioning

Is the optic on backwards?

No, unfortunately since the magnifier can't be 1/2" away like this.
They are both on correctly.
The long end of the red dot points back not forward like EOTech etc.
It actually only functions one way. No red dot shows if you flip it.

09-18-2012, 1:44 PM
I've really fallen in love with this little rifle.
Going to look into small game hunting soon.
Should be lots of fun and tasty eating too!

09-18-2012, 2:04 PM

Hell, I wouldn't mind one of those!

09-22-2012, 3:33 AM
Getting mine this Monday!

09-23-2012, 9:31 PM
ok.. i want one now. :ack2:

09-23-2012, 9:51 PM
Anyone here have some cleaning tips? I learned out to completely disassemble but it's still hard to clean the barrel. Any luck with short brass brushes or advice?

09-23-2012, 9:54 PM
boresnake and clp

09-24-2012, 8:51 AM
I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004DPNUAK/ in all of the calibers I own.
3 sections of metal brushes.

Got my groupings much better too.
It is a certified tack driver.
10 Rounds @ 25 yards with magnifier:

09-26-2012, 8:17 AM
I'm so bad with names.
Last night met a member and his wife at the range.
Let me know who you were again!
Sorry, with the combination of my memory and the ear plugs, it was a losing combination for remembering!

09-26-2012, 10:54 AM
Was me!

We ran outta ammo right after you showed up, and then there was a sideshow in the lane next to you, after we left firing line

09-26-2012, 11:09 AM
Yea, they were incredibly distracting especially with their cheerleaders screaming.
I actually had to put the guns down and step back a couple times because I didn't know if they were flailing their own guns around.
Not cool at all.

Great meeting you man!

09-26-2012, 12:26 PM
One of the ladies was not as it seemed, LOL.

Were there all the time, ESP ladies night. Pisses me off that they let the CHP take over on the same nights indoors

09-26-2012, 12:37 PM
Yea that guy was really strange.
Got very talkative with my girlfriend talking about "bigger guns than that .22"
Sigh. I hate it when people assume that what you have out is all you have, and that it matters in any way.

10-08-2012, 9:56 AM
Taking Hunters Ed next month and will be giving the MP5 some field time to earn its keep
(and my dinner :D)

10-14-2012, 10:32 AM
Casper you have made me really want one of these. How is that sightmark stuff holding up

10-16-2012, 10:38 AM
Casper you have made me really want one of these. How is that sightmark stuff holding up
I'm saving up for one right now :). I've been wanting one for awhile now.

10-16-2012, 9:43 PM
Looks like a great plinker. How much do they run?

I have a 15/22 and love shooting it, pumping ammo through it is great when you aren't feeling the kick in your wallet.

10-17-2012, 9:07 AM
Casper you have made me really want one of these. How is that sightmark stuff holding up

They're great. Holds zero well.
The magnifier puts a slight blur on the red dot however.
I guess Big 5 had these for a little over $550, but I vultured the Classifieds section for this used one.

I honestly love this plinker to death.
Can't wait to go do some hunting with it in winter.

10-18-2012, 9:06 PM
Huh, Big 5 has them.... hmmmmm Will have to look out for a coupon that includes firearms then. I would never waste money on a 9mm semi auto MP5, especially Cali neutered, so this is the next best thing for sure.

10-19-2012, 7:38 AM
I just got my ammo and firearm coupon from big 5, so they're starting to go out.

10-19-2012, 2:38 PM
Going to Appleseed at Chabot tomorrow?

10-28-2012, 1:41 PM
I didn't even see your post about that until now!
I'd love to try out an Appleseed event.

Brought my dad out for our last range day together since they're headed back east this week.

Had a great day and continued to shoot 1/2" groupings at 20 yards unmagnified.
Cannot recommend the HK MP5 enough.

Also met a great guy shooting next to us that let my father and I shoot his Glock match pistol.
What a beautiful shot!

Time to clean the toys.

11-02-2012, 6:27 AM
Man I really want one.

Can't decide between this and the MP15-22...

11-02-2012, 10:47 AM
If you like more heft and metal over plastic, the HK is for you man.

11-05-2012, 2:47 PM
Are there sling mounts on it?

11-05-2012, 3:11 PM
Are there sling mounts on it?

2 mounting point on the charging handle side, see pics on the first page.

11-05-2012, 3:39 PM
Yup, one under the front sight and one on the rear of the gun where the stock connects to the receiver.

11-06-2012, 12:50 PM
Even my girlfriend loves to shoot it.
Her groupings at 16.5 yards are kind of scary good :D
Made sure she can operate and load everything herself and broke her chicken wing habit.

Not sure if you mean support arm or trigger arm... as an appleseed instructor, we teach the chicken wing on the trigger arm for unsupported shooting...

Whoever this guy is... he is doing it right

If you are trying to be tacticool and make your profile smaller, then more power to you... But using the method shown above, I can shoot about 3 moa unsupported at 100 yrds using my ar.

11-06-2012, 3:18 PM
I've always felt more solid with my trigger arm pressed against my side (not out to the side).
I shake and sway much less. Maybe I'm just passing on my own habits to her.
Either way I could care less how I look, I thought it was the proper way since it actually helped my groupings.
Maybe I was holding out my arm wrong? I'm absolutely open to suggestions.

11-09-2012, 4:30 PM
Do an Appleseed! Even if you are a decent shot now, you will learn a ton at an Appleseed. Just go into it with an open mind and listen to the instruction... Try it our way

11-09-2012, 6:18 PM
Can you mount a pistol grip on the MP5?

11-10-2012, 8:05 AM
Great looking firearm. Definitely thinking of getting one.

11-10-2012, 8:20 AM
I've been wanting one for my 22 caliber 3-gun matches.
But still can't find them here in So Ca.

11-14-2012, 8:47 AM
Are you looking for one used? Because if new is ok Big 5 has them in stock usually.

11-15-2012, 12:31 PM
$479 at Big 5 right now.
They aren't in the ad this week.
Last week they were in the ad for $499.

Dont know how long the $479 price is good for.

Anybody have any info on 25rd rebuild kits? Or converting your 10rd to a 25 for out of state usage?

I got mine at Big 5 in Folsom for $479. Everyone loves shooting it. Very accurate and a lot of fun.

12-31-2012, 12:32 PM
There's a used one at Target Masters I saw today.

My buddy tried my MP5 last week and immediately went out and bought one. He checked out the GSG too and wasn't interested.

01-08-2013, 4:42 PM
Considering an MP5 SD glad to hear everyone's experiences with it. Big 5 still has a few. Riflegear had them on sale, but of course they are sold out.

Casper - you're set up looks sweet. I saw a GSG 5 at Martin B Retting and almost bought it, then looked around and found I liked the Walther one better.

01-09-2013, 10:21 AM
Thanks. It really functions well in it's current set up and I find I barely use the magnifier really.

Glad you were able to check out the Walther before buying!
Hope this thread helps some people out.

I bought a HK MP5 .22 about a year ago. Love it. Its really fun once you can find a bunch of ammo to pour through it.
So far it eats everything Ive fed it, regardless of the brand. Its very accurate with the diopter sights, but what the heck. Its like putting an air foil on a Honda Civic! And unlike those air foils, these really do something.

I found this article a few months ago, and went searching for it again due to Caspers sweet set up on the sight and magnifier.

The sight/doubler selling now for under $200, as opposed to the$1200 three years ago, but have some shady reviews on Amazon. So I was wondering if anyone is currently using the rig originally out lined in this thread, and their results. Better inexpensive alternatives?

Its such a fun rifle to play with. Im sure there are far more people who own this plunker today, and far more mods. Id rather add to this article than start a new one. Let it be a journal for everyone now.

This is a pretty good thread for a legal short barrel conversion... (http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-clone-talk/194603-how-convert-umarex-mp5-sd-a5-sbr-umarex-mp5-a5.html)

The full auto demo on youtube makes me giggle like a school girl..

My personal additions..
HK MP5 .22 & GSG5 Lighted Forearm
Single Point HK Sling
4 25 Round Magazines

MP5 Rail Mount by metaltech. Works very well. That being said, its short.May not hold offset or long accessorys. It costs $16, and the HK rail costs $99. Be aware of your needs and compare.

Looking for additions I bought a Barksa 4x30 IR Sight w/Green Laser & 140 Lumen Flashlight combo.
Too big and heavy for the .22lr. I still play with the sight on the..22. The laser went to my 9mm, and the flashlight is in my semi for pre trips in the dark. Not for the .22lr. It will fit, but its heavy, loose, and looks like the sail of a submarine when attached.

Thanks for reading!

I've been wanting one for my 22 caliber 3-gun matches.
But still can't find them here in So Ca.

They have 2-gun matches at Piru
just look up California Wheel Burners
