just moved to marysville Ca from Ohio last month. Not to happy about this area that the military has moved me to.lol. anyway, decided to pick up my first gun today to protect my family.i picked up a S&W 442.now i need to get my CCW. i hear the chances of getting it are very very slim. but im hoping my Active duty status and the fact that im military police will help. can anybody point me in the right direction as to where to start? any military guys had a fairly easy time with this? glad to be part of this forum. hope to learn a lot about my first gun and the many more to come.

Its not easy and it can get expensive. I looked into it but since I'm in Solano county I figured I'd probably end up wasting my time.

There's a lot of good info here. Search it, its pretty easy to find.

You live in Yuba County. You can easily get a CCW in that county. Just apply.

Yuba county is marked green, so I'd go for it. I'd read some of the info in the CCW sub forum.

(I got the right county, right?)

Welcome to Cali. Must be Beal AFB? Was stationed there way back in the late 60's working with the SR71 program before I went to SEA.

You will obviously have good information on how the base commander wants personal firearms handled.

Yuba Sheriff is the place to apply. http://sheriff.co.yuba.ca.us/permits.html

(I always thought doing basic at Lackland, then staying there for specialty training was pretty cruel. But then, I went from Lackland to Keesler, not a whole lot better except for the beach.)

I went from Lackland to Sheppard, and I had a 9 month tech school. I thought Keesler was heaven when I went TDY there from Plattsburgh.
