Finally got a shop in south Santa Clara County: Lokey Firearms. I've been driving by the shop weekly for the past five weeks to see if they've opened up yet. Today was their first day of business. I was greeted by Ryan, the owner, as soon as I walked in. I chatted with him for a bit as he pulled different guns for me to fondle (Desert Eagle, FN Five Seven, SR22, Franklin Armory XO-26, POF AR pistol). He asked how the store looked and I told him it was clean, had good inventory, and the shop was very well laid out. Unfortunately I only spent five bucks on some cleaning brushes, but they were very appreciative and gave me a couple stickers with their logo. As I left, I thanked Ryan and his family for giving folks in the area a new, close place to shop. We haven't had a shop down here for I believe 10+ years.

For anyone interested here's their info:

Where exactly is the store located? Is it there by the subway or back behind the Safeway somewhere?

Two doors down from Box Seat. You live in the area also, right?

I went in yesterday and was also met with friendly people in a non-pushy or macho environment. I will be back for sure! They are working on getting a website, so hopefully it will be easier to spread the word in the near future. Support your LGS!

Thanks. I'll have to stop by soon. I don't really need anything, but I haven't been into many gun shops where I've left empty handed :)

I stopped by the shop today and Ryan said the hours will be 10am to 6pm for the next
two weeks. Once the hours and days of operation are decided they will be posted!! Everyone stop by and check the shop out, you
will not be disappointed!!!

They seem to be on par with Reed's, Targetmasters, SJGE, BAGV, etc

I don't recall seeing compacts. I know they had a couple XDs I think one was a 9mm and one was a 40 I am pretty sure. Not sure if there was a 45 there.

Their prices are about the same as Reeds and all the other gun shops in the area. If you live in Mo Hill, San Martin, Gilroy then it is a no brainer to buy from them. You will save on gas and time.

They are very friendly. Young guy named Ryan, his dad and his mom were their.

Even if your favorite gun shop sells ammo for a few bucks more than Made-in-China-Mart, you still buy a box or two from them. If no one supports the gun shops, they wont be around.

I bought a gun just for the purpose of supporting a local shop.

Checked them out today. Asked them if they have any plans to sell stripped lowers and they replied in the affirmative, which means I'll be back. Bought a few packs of various caliber snap caps (couldn't leave empty-handed!). My feel is I like the place; the guy is knowledgeable and, more importantly, friendly. When I walked in I was greeted promptly (despite the small group already there) and felt that they were happy to see a potential customer. If you have done any shopping in the San Jose area then you know how rare that attitude actually is! Good place with good staff and I have no reservations about recommending them.

I agree with RuskieShooter, checked them out for the first time today myself, I may have been one of the people in that small group! I was hoping to see some AR parts, as I'm building 4 different ones right now. No such luck, but I'll definitely be back when they do! Those Franklin Armory pistols they have in stock are badarse! Small, clean, friendly family run store. I too couldn't leave empty handed, picked up a double rifle hard case, only one long enough I could fit the triple crown 1913 CG Swedish Mauser I'll be picking up in a couple weeks in Mt. View. ;)

Nice guys over at this new store. I dropped in to visit them this past weekend and they have a good set up. They had a good selection of handguns and rifles to choose from.

Just read in the Gilroy Dispatch about this store. Hadn't heard anything before but I'm really excited to stop in soon and check it out. Any word on stripped lowers? Also did they have a selection of AKs?

No parts. As far as mag rebuilds, they only have Pmags if memory serves. And no MACs or Uzis. But Ryan is definitely willing to order in what you may be looking for. And without the high pressure and/or attitude :cool2:

I was able to stop by there and was definitely impressed! I ended up picking a stripped lower. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Very friendly environment and greeted me as soon as I walked in. Only complain was the 850 price tag of a single stack WASR. They aren't finished with the shop yet but already it looks good.

I know they're open past 4 as that is the time written on my receipt to pick up my stripped lower. I believe it's 6 but not 100% sure.

Good luck with that. If they don't have it, Reed's has about the best selection of left handed holsters in the area.

Very cool. I had no idea.

I won't be able to get by there until next week. Anyone notice if they buy and sell used, surplus, C&R, etc? I have a few guns I could let go for a reasonable amount of store credit.

WTF they're closed today? The guy told me last week to come pick it up next Sunday as well as writing it on my receipt. That's weird. You saved me a trip though thanks.

Yeah definitely closed. And the hours as displayed on the door are those vinyl letters used for window signs? Not a temporary sign, but rather they looks pretty permanent. I think its safe to assume these are their hours moving forward.

Purchased a gun on line. Need a FFL to receive the gun. Anyone have an idea on what these guys charge? I called them this morning, but they were busy trying to get the store open. I told them I would call back after 10 (when they were actually open... OOPS!)

Anyway -
Need to send the gun to a FFL. Hoping to use them, if the price is right. Anyone know off hand what it might be?

Thanks,
Ted

They'll do it for 75. Search for FFLs in Gilroy I found a guy there a while back who did it for 35.

Just to close the loop on this. He said he'd do it for $35.00 plus the CA state taxes. Can't beat that! Earned my business for sure.

Tried charging me 75 for a non-out of state transfer even after I had done previous business with them. I have taken it elsewhere since.

If you're ever around Santa Cruz, I believe Santa Cruz Armory is very reasonable. Those boys are up and comers.
