So I am looking to buy an FDE Glock... Not sure which one yet, But I noticed that they look more green than Tan.

I want it to look like this...

Anybody know where I can find it like this?

That Glock in the photo is duracoated.

Here's one in Bangkok at a gun store. Normal OD (Olive Drab) from the Glock factory. The FDE Glocks have to be SSE to get them in Californistan because they are not on the Roster. :(

Another normal OD Glock

The color of OD Glocks change on photos depending on the amount of Yellow in the light.

The photos he posted are green, they are Olive Drab (OD) the ones from Lipseys (the picture you posted) are Flat Dark Earth (kinda like a dark tan) they do look different in person than on that flyer (I have one and one more on the way) but they are NO WHERE NEAR as light as http://puu.sh/XcbR
for something this light you'll have to duracoat it

I want to match my AR-15.
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/23478_1344895151621_4273309_n.jpg

What would be best to do? or do the FDE Glock's look somewhat like my AR-15 Two Tone?

As the owner of the duracoated glock in the picture, go with the FDE glock if you can get it. Duracoat leaves a weird texture on the grip. Those FDE glocks look great in person too

The Glock FDE is a darker brown then most other FDE. I call my 23 poop brown, good color though. He it is next to my FDE Desert Warrior.

All of mine are in the original dark black, and signed by Gaston himself. Glocks are just hammers, not artwork.

I like my OD Glocks, so on that basis alone I'm ready to buy one in FDE.

But for collectors, it's interesting to note that:

http://m4carbine.net/showpost.php?p=1273520&postcount=15

So if one wants to own the same gun that a certain unit started carrying instead of their expensive 1911s...

True, but most hammers have brown handles.

Not true. My FDE 23 was only $40 more then a black one. It was worth it to me.

In regards to FDE Glocks,

Should I wait and try to find a FDE Gen 4 glock or just grab any FDE glock as they are hard to find (i.e. gen3 or gen4)?

I'm looking for any FDE glock (9mm, 40sw, or 45acp)

Thanks.

I don't know about paying more....but I have seen places list Gen 3 FDE at $600 + Tax + DROS. That is about right for a glock, haven't seen anything lower than 550 at any LGS.

Gen 4 FDE is about $640.

But it's finding them in stock that is the trick. Is Glock planing to make more, or is this a few and far between production runs?

This post was raised from the dead.
If you like and shoot gen3 well, I would not wait on a 4. They are harder to come buy but not impossible. I picked up a DE gen 4 today that has a test fire date of 3/27/13, so Glock must still be making them.

Picked this up about a month ago.

Also, was able to pick up a G19 OD from glockmeister for $574 and a G17 Gen 3 FDE from Riflegear for $579, Not too bad. :D

It was at one of my LGS, they only had the one in their LE only display case. Just got lucky went in looking for a 19 saw the DE 17 next to a BLK gen4 19 and garbed them both.
But I have two other gen3 DE I picked up last year. They are out there just have to spend some time looking and a little luck helps too.
Only pic so far of the new 4's, crappy pic sorry.

Any of you with FDE blocks (gen 3 or gen4) have any ftf, fte, or brass ejections to the face or erratic ejections?

The FDE Glocks were a Lipsey's special edition made only for them.Lipsey's is a distributor so you can't order from them directly.

Only delears registered through them could buy these Glocks. Supposedly the order was for 50k but glock would make batches at a time and all 50k were not made at once.

Not sure if they are gonna complete the 50k order and continue making them but in the beginning you could tell when the batches would be made since you would see the market getting a lot of them.

That was last year and it seems like their not coming in as much...so not sure if Lipsey's will be getting in more..

The OD Glocks are basically a similar story where a distributor put an order for a large amount which is why glock is selling them again... Figured they saw the popularity of the FDE Glocks and wanted to do the same...

With my FDE Gen4 G17 I've gotten a few cases to the forehead in the first few hundred rounds. Ejection seemed week and inconsistent. I then installed an Apex extractor and now ejection is positive and consistent.

My attempt at Duracoat with Magpul FDE. Not a Glock, rather, an XD. I'll try the same thing when I pick up a second G19. I agree, factory Glocks & XD's in FDE look like poop. I did this one to match a few of my FDE AR's. Below are before & after pics.

So it seems like Glock has worked out the ejection issues and FTF/FTE issues on the new / current productions?

This has not been an issue for some time. IIRC Glock was putting .40 springs in 9mm guns, which worked for Duty loads but not for low power target loads. Search for it, this topic has been thoroughly discussed.

Never quite got the color thing. I buy guns to shoot the crap out of them, not to stroke. Sighting down-range I can't tell or care what color it is. Let alone pay more money for a color. I'm more interested in what my target looks like than what color the gun is.
But to each his own.

Why would you assume that just because someone is interested in guns in colors other then black they don't shoot their guns or care about their proficiency with their DE or OD gun.

FWIW- There are some new OD Glocks at Wild Bills in South Sac/Elk Grove.
