can anyone tell me what lakes (or other fresh water fishing spots) are good in San Diego? I'm not looking to catch any certain kind of fish in particular, would just like to enjoy the outdoors while I catch a buzz and maybe a few fish at the same time.:D

I like Dixon lake in Escondido the best. Tough to find a bad lake in San Diego. All the 1's i've been to have been pretty good places to have a good time.

Lake Jennings is close and I've caught bass out of there. There's some crappie and catfish there too but I throw those back. I also fished Lake Murray in La Mesa. They allow fishing one day a week. I forget which day it is but it's pretty good there. I really like Lake Cuyameca. There's good trout fishing there. My favorite lake is Chollas Lake. It's for children only. I take my daughter there and she loves catching fish and feeding the ducks.

Dixon used to be good, but the fish and game interferres a lot out there so it's on and off. Last time I was down there in Esco the water level was super low and they just stocked it with trout so they were all huddled up on the shoreline dazed! Murray is good too, but there are a lot of boaters on it, it's more of a recreation lake than a fishing lake. Jennings is pretty good, you can actually find a lot of good spots from shore, just be prepared to tromp through some mud and grass! Largemouth Bass is what it's all about! There are a lot of trout down there too, that's if you like tossing out a bobber, kickin the feet up, and relaxing though!:cool2:

I'd like to get down to San Diego to go deep sea fishing! The tuna haven't run up north here in a couple years.

You can catch catfish and trout during their seasons but I like to go after the big bass.
