I have acquired a .45 Colt MK IV series 80 stainless steel Combat Commander with no factory instructions as to how to field strip for cleaning and the seller had no idea how to do that.
Can you please walk me through the process-Youtube won't work for me as we are on a dial up internet server and that would take forever and a day if at all to download. A pdf or a detailed link with photos would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for responding but as I stated in my original post, youtube videos won't work with my current dial up internet connection.

It's not that hard after you do it once.

Where are you? Odds are there's a Calgunner nearby that will show you.

Worse to worse I can talk you through it over the phone.

My bad. Missed that part. Wouldn't mind annotating it for you but want to make sure we're talking about the same gun. The video is titled "Colt MK IV Series 80 - Officer's ACP - FIELD STRIP"

The video begins with him pressing the spring in from the front of the barrel and then rotating a clip on the barrel 10-15 degrees counter-clockwise while facing the barrel.

Yes be careful with the Idiot scratch as well as not losing your Recoil Plug when you do a detail strip.

I've pulled up the instructions supplied by redcliff and toneman and will give them a try.
Thanks cannon and MA2 for offering your assistance but I live up in the Central Valley.
YES-the CC comes complete with an idiot scratch both on the polished and matte areas between the trigger and the slidestop. Has anyone gone through Colt or another gunsmith to get rid of those marks?:(
