BEFORE you buy buds.. You will be looking at $75 for transfer fee on top of DROS from your FFL.. So add about $110 to buds Or anyone elses site where you need to ship to an FFL..

Right now turners should have their 870s on sale with rebate.. Should be about $300 OTD new.. If not should be coming up soon. Keep an eye out.

Is that OTD or before DROS and or tax?

If that's in fact OTD I might go pick up another one...

Buy a used wingmaster. The quality is superior and used they can be had fairly cheaply.

Good point nubrun, if it was for myself I'd do that, I'll suggest it, but he wants to save $$$ more than anything. He doesn't even know if he likes shooting shotguns...

I agree with post #9---find a nice older 870 for probably the same or less than one of the new guns!

Another vote for buying used. Great deals can be had.

+1 I just started the 10 day wait on an 870 yesterday. Guy I purchased from had only fired it once, the thing looked brand spanking new. Also came with a bunch of extras, I'm happy with it

How much did you pay for it?

I shopped 870s for a few months same with GPs.. Everyone here is over pricing like crazy for 100+ shot guns for the same or more than you can buy new after DROS. The classifieds aren't what they use to be too many guys looking to scam a quick buck.

And with half the idiots who are willing to bubba a rifle or screw something up and try to quick sell I wouldn't reccomended a new first time shooter there. Just buy new first time IMO then learn what you need to know and then be confidant in buying a used gun.

I've looked at a few guns if I didn't know what I knew could have bought some serious lemons for close to MSRP. Then seeing it be sold a little after I looked at it feel bad for who ever fell for it after passed on it.

I paid $340 + $35 for the PPT/DROS at Riflegear.

He included all the OEM stuff as well as 3 boxes of ammo, a carry bag, pistol grip and shell saddle. It's the older styled 18" express model with a factory extension. Only plan to keep it completely stock, so the pistol grip and saddle will be sold off, putting another $20-30 back in my pocket.

I don't really like the new 870's, and I figured it was like getting a new one with only 1 shot put through it. Going this route I spend less for the exact model I want and don't have to deal with the $30 rebate.
