I picked this up today.
The patents on it are late 1800's so it is late 1800 - early 1900's.
It was a BEAST to move.

Yes, it is bigger than a standard fridge.....and around 3-3500 lbs.

Two locking doors.

The inside is not original but it will work.

*sorry....I rotated the pics in photobucket, but when I copy them to here it rotates them back for some reason.

That's a nice piece of history. A real conversation piece and functional too...Good find. Are you going to have it restored in any way?

Yes, I did. The owner of that safe is a member here. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=204667

On the exterior, not at all. I think it has character, and it is completely functional the way it is.
If I need to, I will modify the shelving because it is not original anyway.

Great find. How did you run across this?

A local business has had it for the last 38 or so years.
My wife and I are good friends of the owners and we had mentioned that if they ever sell up that we would be interested in buying the safe.
They decided to retire and sell up and they told us that if we wanted it then all we had to do was move it and it was ours! :D
SWEET!!!!

It was not fun to move though...it took 3 of us 3 hours just to get it out of the building and onto a trailer!
