Well, I picked it up from jail yesterday after thee longest 10 days I've ever spent and ran to the range this morning.

This gun is amazing, it feels natural in your hands and it shoots like a charm!
Trigger pull feels alot lighter than the what is posted on the spec sheet at S&W's website!

Put 200 rds of Sellior and Bellot, 115gn RN through it with only a handful of hiccups (FTF's and 2 stove pipes) that I attribute to the magazines. I've never seen a magazine with such strong springs before. It was literally harder to load the bullets into the mags than it's ever been on any my 1911 mags.

The best part.....NO, I repeat NO "loaded chamber indicator" rooster comb on top of the slide. Don't ask me how I managed to get this model as I'm not a LEO and I did not SSE this gun. The S&W website now lists 2 - 9mm models, one with the indicator and one without, and 1 - .40 cal CA models....

Yeah, Turner's in SoCal may be taking pre-orders for this Oct for a lesser price than what I paid ($480), but I have mine now and that's all that matters...(insert evil laugh here...muwahahahahahaha)

Here are some pics of the Shield and of my handiwork. As you can see as the day progressed and the greater the distance, my groupings started to diminish. That's o.k., I don't plan on using the Shield as a home defense weapon and there are no 15 yd straight line of sights in my house anyway....nuk, nuk, nuk!

Nice.

I skip putting a deposit at the local Turner's and just paid in fypull last Friday.

10 days isn't so bad when you compare two months :-)

Congrats and nice shooting.

UPDATE: I think I might've found the feeding issue. While cleaning the gun, I kept running through my head what other possibilities could lead to the my FTF's and stove pipes other than not breaking in the mags properly, was told today that you should take new mags and load them and let them sit for a week or two to break them in.....never heard that before but I'm willing to try it!

I decided to get out the micrometer and measure the COAL of the Sellier and Bellot rounds vs the Remington UMC rounds vs what the Speer #14 reloading manual says and this is what I found...

S&B = 1.158"

Remy UMC = 1.124"

Speer Manual = 1.135"

Here's a pic of the two rounds...

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l538/skosh1/IMG_0632.jpg

So that's telling me that the S&B's are too long and more than likely the cause for the issues.

I've got both mag's fully loaded to compress the springs and will take the Shield back out next week and run only Remy through it and see if the problems persist.

Congrats, I have two, and nearly 2k rounds thru them with no issues.

I shoot WWB xclusively thru them for target ammo, and Critical Defense and 124gr non +p Gold Dot for defensive ammo.

Wonderful guns.

I wish that was OTD...$480 before taxes and DROS! $551 OTD

That is great to hear, I truly believe that the S&B ammo was the root of my feeding issues

If you can, get one! I hear Turner's Outdoorsman in the L.A. area is taking pre-orders for $400 for delivery in Oct. If I lived in SoCal...I'd get another one!!!

The loaded chamber indicator is the small hole at the back of the barrel. You can see the brass if it's loaded.

I'm sure he knows this. He's saying he doesn't have the CA version of the LCI, its the regular version.

Yes gentlemen, I'm aware of the "normal" LCI, my Kimber has one, believe my wife's Ruger SR22 has one also, the LCI that I was referring to is this one....the "rooster comb"!

Mydogsmonkey...thank you for making me feel better about the price I paid!!! You know, I probably would've paid more if I had to just to get one! hehehehehe....

How does the shield compare to a PM9 as far as size. I have a PM9 that I only use for pocket carry. Anything bigger would not work. My PM9 has been 100% function wise but not a fan of the trigger. Would take a look at the M&P if it's small enough.

The Turners salesman swore that was for the optional periscope...

Sorry, I know nothing about the PM9...what I can say is that it's about the same size as the Ruger SR22, regarding width and grip and it's just a tad shorter overall.

That pic is straight from the S&W website...honest.

Here's the link...

I have no idea how I ended up with one without the "rooster comb" but you can bet your sweet a**, I didn't open my mouth to ask my LGS why mine didn't have it!!!!

Took the Shield back to the range today fired 100 rds WWB through it without any malfunctions at all aside from one "dud" round that only went "pip" and that was it! I will have to look into selling the rest of that Sellior and Bellot ammo now....

Might have to check into getting more of these "plastic" pistols.....

Holy hell that loaded chamber flag is hideous. Glad you got one without it!

If I ever pickup a Shield I'm going to do it via SSE just so I don't have that dumb thing. The extra cost of SSE is worth it to me.
