It looks like we have a participating vendor
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=612364

Please look over their thread, a $10 donation to CalGuns for each one. Probably in the $100/$110 range if I read a post on the thread right, DROS, shipping, taxes not included but the donation seems to be. Get the details in that thread and follow the instructions.

I searched for this in the market place, here and other threads so if there is one going just turn me onto it.....

Why not a lower receiver group buy. New Frontier (a sponsor her I bought from once already) has them for $65 a piece....couldn't we price them at $75 plus DROS/Shipping/taxes and raise $10 a piece for the cause?

Talk about media....Cal Guns' orders 10,000 lower receivers :) raises a $100,000 !!!

Have no money for this right now (just made CG donation), but I CAN provide you all with something to shoot at with those new rifles:

landryreloadingdocs.com

Scroll down to the bottom of the page for SB249 target. Ignore the rest of the page. That business venture isn't quite ready for release yet, but it was a convenient place to host the target file online.

From my perspective, custom marking wouldn't necessarily need to be directly SB249-related. Something like CGF or CGN markings would have a more lasting meaning, and we would still be able to say "we bought these 1,000 new rifles to show our protest of SB249".

Hmm, if we had a custom run of lowers commissioned, then maybe the manufacturer could make sure to do the paperwork/taxes/transfers in a manner that doesn't preclude building them as pistols or AOWs? Hmm...

As inspiration, let me throw out there that back in the day I built a .50BMG that's marked and registered as a model FU-KORETZ-50. I would buy a model YEE-15 or YEE-249 lower.

Or better yet, how about a semiauto-only, CA-compliant, SB249-compliant, dolphin-safe M249 receiver (if that's even possible)? Because that would be the ideal thing to call a model YEE249. :43:

I like that idea. All mine currently say is Spike's or Aero Precision. I wouldn't mind a markup and donation to get the CGF logo on a few.

One question though, given we are spread around, how to we ship to an FFL and get them to us in our locale?

It was a suggestion; I'm not one to make it happen but would buy 3 if someone could; would volunteer some time to help out in my local. I think Cal Guns needs to find a manufacturer, get a logo, do a group buy - looks like they can raise some money but even better if we do get a large volume order that "sale" will drive the anti's nuts. That's a twofer :)

I'm definitely in for 2!

All the manufactures I've heard anything about are backed up for months.
SB249 will most likely be history one way or the other by the time anyone could have lowers ready.
And custom to boot at $65.00 when they can sell all they can crank out as is???? Maybe someone would do it just to thumb their nose at Yee but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'm way in.

Pay day tomorrow and I've been working a ton of overtime. I was going to go put about 4 or 5 stripped lowers in dros tomorrow then go on a shopping spree at the Calguns store (and a fat donation too).
But if this can be done with the Calguns logo and a percentage going towards Calguns, I will be in for 4 or 5 of these instead (and still have a shopping spree at the Calguns store :D).

Maybe 6 or 7 if we can get .308 too. I'm an AK guy. I severely lack in M4 standings :(

I do know Tactical machining will do custom engraving with a minimum order (40 or 50). but I also know they are backed up about 12 weeks and are having trouble getting forgings. You would need an FFL to coordinated all this if you were to get the order started.

Why waste your time with serialized lowers you have to DROS? 80% lowers are the way to go! Once you do one, you will never want to DROS a lower again!

We are getting this batch of pre-anodized lowers for $85 and he charges $65 a lower (5+) to machine it on his CNC. I do not personally have any to sell, Roccobro has a hook-up at Tactical Machining and he did a group buy of about 200 or so last month. In that batch we got them for $72 un-anodized. He said he has up to 20 for my group, but I think we only need 17. I am cool with you joining us if there are enough to go around. PM for more details.

His place is in San Bernardino (1 hour from me), it would be a 3 hour each way trip from SD. I think there is a guy or shop near Camp Pendleton that does the CNC'ing too.

Where is it and who do I contact for the machining? I got 2 paperweights, and a bunch of friends at work in the LA area, that are dieing to get some 80%'s worked on. Problem is that we work weekends and cant get to the San Diego build party.

His shop is located in San Bernardino. His CG name is Roccobro. You can schedule to do the machining with him whenever you want. I think his days are Saturday mornings, Sunday's after 2, Tuesday's after 2 and I forget what his other day schedules are. He charges $75 a lower to machine for groups 4 or less and $65 for groups 5 or more. He is a super cool guy and the finished product comes out awesome! You still have to bring the lower above 80%, but it is stupid simple. Best $150 I have ever spent!

He also does AK build parties! (HK's too I think?)

Tell him WiKDMoNKY/Matt sent you...

Addax was doing it already. For every Addax lower that you buy, they donate a portion of it to CGF.

Got 3 of them though.

We want to Thank You and other Calgunner's for your support in helping us fight SB249 by purchasing our AR15 Mil-spec lower receivers.

Since June 26th, we take $10.00 from the proceeds for each Addax forged mil-spec lower sold to donate to the Calguns Foundation to help fight SB249.

We are selling these lowers at $89.99

We are down to 6 lowers as of today, and we are working hard to have another batch of mil-spec lowers ready by October.

Addax Mil-spec lower at Addax Tactical.com (http://www.addaxtactical.com/store/pc/ADDAX-TACTICAL-FORGED-MIL-SPEC-AR15-MULTI-CAL-STRIPPED-LOWER-RECEIVER-184p5777.htm)

We will be offering Laser Engraving services at our shop starting next week.:D

We can laser engrave special / custom logo's on lowers and on small parts as long as the dimensions etc. allow for the logo to be engraved onto the small part.

Thank you for your support!

Our mil-spec forged lowers have our company name, serial number, multi-cal machined engraved on the lower as you can see in the pictures below.

We decided not to machine engrave our company logo on these lowers to allow for a cleaner KISS look, and to allow customers to laser engrave / personalize the lower receivers.

So you guys could do this group by for us?

We are planning on releasing another batch of lowers around Oct-Nov. timeframe.

The normal price is $99.00, but for our first batch we discounted the price to $89.99.

If you guys want to do a group buy for Addax Lowers, we might be interested in this, and we can continue to honor the $89.99 price, and donate $10.00 to the Calguns Foundation to help fight SB249.

We can also offer the laser engraving for most types of custom logos at a discount on our Addax Lowers as a part of the Group buy.

If somebody who wants to manage / coordinate a group buy please contact us at sales@addaxtactical.com so we can discuss the details.

Thank you,

We maybe be able to ask a handful of FFLs to participate and become some sort of a "preferred" place to receive and DROS them. Hell, we may also be able to talk them in to donating a portion of the fee to CalGuns. I'll try to put a feeler out to one in my area next week.

Awesome Addax! Is there a way to make this an 'official' calguns group buy?

It'd be great to have a running total of lowers purchased and $$ donated to calguns from the buy.

I'm interested in a couple and I have a few friends that are also serious about purchasing. I'm sure the same can be said for those that posted on this thread.

With a massive order like this, what would the delay on receiving the products be? I'm in no hurry but curious none-the-less.

Guys,

I was contacted by Houlding Firearms via Facebook this evening. Is there any special requests or questions that you would like me to ask them when we speak on the phone tomorrow?

Price?

Quantity/Price at what quantity?

Engraving?

Is there additional price for special SB249 engraving?

What they can't/won't do?

Anything else?

I am just trying to support the cause(opposition of SB249) and help a fairly new California business in addition to the ones who have already said they would do some production runs but may not be able to gear up production very soon.

If a member or members want to coordinate a Group Buy with us then we can discuss the details and they can start coordinating the group buy process here on Calguns.

The current idea is for us to make more of our Addax Forged lowers, and we can laser engrave logo's or sayings on the right side of the receiver (pre hard anodizing), since this allows us to custom engrave more customized logos or sayings vs. machine engraving, but this will also add more time to the overall manufacturing of the lowers.

Timing is also going to depend on how many members commit, and how quickly payment is made in order for us to pull the trigger to obtain the forgings, and to start manufacturing lowers.

It is not possible for us to provide an ETA at this time until we have a Group Buy fully planned out with the Calguns member(s) who would coordinate the group buy.

A review of this forum thread shows that on-line forums, while great for communication of information and topical education, are not the right venue to organize group purchases. I participated in an OLL group buy at a local gun club I used to belong to when I lived in the Bay Area. It was easy, fast, and saved me $20 an OLL. Let's use CalGuns for activities it is best suited for. And remember let's keep our powder dry for the inevitable future SB assaults on our right to keep and bear arms. Yee is a tiny pawn in all of this, not only does a small-minded zealot like him not deserve to be memorialized on an OLL (I don't want one—yuck), but there will be others to take his place.

I'll do it as long as I don't have to take money. I've never done a group buy and don't feel comfortable taking payment info from people.

Addax, if I organize this, can I have people contact you for payment?
If so, I'll contact you by phone and get the details and post it up.

Hi Kaligaran,

Give us a call this week at 818 361 5008 (ask for Chris), or email us your contact info. and Chris can contact you as well. sales@addaxtactical.com

You can Chris can discuss the different ideas, and come up with a Group Buy plan.

We would coordinate payment directly with the Group Buy members so you will not have to be responsible for that piece, but we will need your assistance in being the main coordinator for the Group Buy.

Thank you,
Addax Tactical

I suppose you can start another thread, "Official 'War Chest' Group Buy" (commemorating the SB 249 efforts), or a title to this effect. Whoever posts in this 'official' thread will be considered officially in (I think someone mentioned something similar in a previous post). NO posting in this thread unless the person WILL commit -to avoid any confusion considering how many people are "in(?)" from this thread. This will keep your Inbox from flooding. Maybe a moderator can make it a temporary sticky to keep the thread up top.

From this official thread, Addax can get a count so Addax can figure out the logistics on Addax's end. I think a deadline and having a minimum amount of buyers by this deadline would facilitate matters. If there are people that can't make it by the deadline for financial or personal reasons, maybe another round of this group buy can be arranged using the same thread; just repeat the process.

If this looks like it can be an ongoing effort that will benefit the 2A community, why not do another one in the future (and many more)....? :cheers2:

Addax currently already does donate to Calguns with certain stripped lower purchases (see their site).

This group buy will be a special run of SB249 engraved lowers that we are coordinating.

I have sent Addax a list of questions so that I can include a lot of info on the thread. I have also asked for a picture of the proposed design(s) for the lower so that I can include it on the group buy thread.

Addax will be taking payment and orders directly. I'm just going to coordinate this buy and track orders after they are placed.

Once I get all the details from Addax I'll be posting up another group buy thread with all the details and who to contact for the order.

I hope to have the full details and group buy thread posted by mid-week.
When I do I'll include a link on this thread.

Please stand by. :)

EDIT: Im not too sure if Addax wants to take payment for each order as they are requested or if they want to receive all orders at once. I've never coordinated a group buy so I'll let them decide what's easiest for them.

We have been involved in in a couple of successful group buys here on Calguns.net and another forum, and we will take the experience we have from these group buys and incorporate them into this group buy.

Chris will hammer out the details with you this week, and he will also speak to the powers that be here on Calguns as well.

We appreciate your volunteering to be the Group Buy Coordinator.

If they were $75 I would get 2 but im stuck in Afghanistan until next year, is there a way that one of you all could hold them for me until I get back. January is about the time I'll be headed back to CA, hopefully something can be worked out, thanks!

@krly, there's not a 'more info' list. Just check back on this thread for more info. I'll be posting a link on this thread and also the group buy main thread will be in the marketplace forums which is where I believe we are to put all group buy info threads.

@stanksbeamen, when the thread with more info goes up (hopefully by the middle-end of the week), you can contact the vendor directly and discuss special requests.

Hello Everyone,

We have consulted with our legal team, and their recommendations are NOT to use any politicians name, likeness or any legislative / senate bill name in the primary logo, model name or serial number of the lower receiver since this is a firearm.

If we did use any politicians name, likeness or referred to any legislative / senate bill in the model name and serial number without consent, this could have some negative consequences (Political and Legal).

That being said, having a custom logo or saying laser engraved on the lower (post sale of the lower) would not have any negative impact on us since the individual customer is requesting this as a service on a lower receiver that they have paid for and own.

We are considering making a special run of Addax Lower Receivers with the Calguns Bear or Calguns Logo (if ok'd by the Calguns.net powers that be). So basically a Calguns lower for a group buy.

We would offer a laser engraving service at a special group buy discounted price (price TBD based on the size and complexity of the logo or saying) on the right side of the receiver for those members who want to have a customized logo or saying.

If you are interested, please let Kaligaran know via PM, so Kaligaran can get a list / count and see if we have enough members to start the process.

If there is enough interest (50 minimum) we will follow up with details such as cost, payment details, and Estimated Lead Time.

Thank you,
Addax Tactical

Ok guys/girls, we have 6 pages of 'I'm in'. Now it's time to see if we're all talk or not.

We need to make sure we're not wasting Addax's time here.
So send me a PM if you are still in for a 'Calguns' engraved lower (pending approval).
I've only got a couple of PMs so far.

A portion will still be donated to CGF for each lower purchased.
Time to step up, let's help out a supporting business, raise some money for CGF and get some lowers!

Once we have the minimum amount of interest we'll be creating the 'official' group buy thread with all the details (still being worked out).
But we have to have enough to start this process interest first.

If you want me to donate my money to the groups that YOU REPRESENT, S**t can the attitude. As far as I am concerned, EVERYBODY came together in a group effort to stop SB249. If you want to set up a group buy for CGF and CA-FFL, set up another one. I might be interested in participating in that one too, if attitudes change.

If you want my opinion, PM your number and a good time to call. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate everything you and the organizations you represent do. However, there are things that need to be dealt with privately, not publicly. Especially if you are representing more than just yourself.

By all means: spill the beans!

What you are hinting has to be a public discussion – at the end it's about the way forward.

There are way too many skeletons in the CGN closet already.

Enough deleted posts and threads. Talk!

These are my opinions, not those of anybody else. I am not affiliated with CGN, CGF, or any other organization, except for the fact that I donate what I can to certain organizations. CGN and CGF have been the recipients of some of my money.

As I said before, some things need to be done privately. My donations to CGF are just a drop in their bucket of donations, but if Brandon wants to hear what I have to say, I am willing to make the call.

We've done the CALGUNS lowers. I'd be down for a CGF Lower with the Guns Rights, Your Rights, Civil Rights Logo http://store.calgunsfoundation.org/v/vspfiles/templates/194/images/template/header_bg.jpg

I'd love for the model to be mult'yee' caliber

I know there were more than 50 on the thread who were interested. But it is important to realize that there were a lot of different specifications which the group buy offer may not meet.

I wanted a "Yee-15". OK, I might be alright with a "Calguns" version, but I simply don't want another black gun so I'm pretty much out of the buy. If it were in something like "Desert Tan" I'd be quite interested.

Others may be similarly picky.

You can have it custom engraved with whatever you like at a discounted rate as addax specified. If you want yee-15, you can get it.

For a group buy, you have to go with something generic that will appeal to the most people. Thus the standard black is the best choice.

Why do we need more than 50 members if some (many?) of the members are buying multiple lowers?

Because when we have to purchase the forgings for the lowers, we have to purchase a minimum quantity of 200, so if we get at least 50 members wanting to participate, and adding in the multiples, then that is a good start for a Group Buy project.
