You should use the search function as there is a lot on this thing. Also, I think you mean the 887.

You should go with the 590 over the 887. If you notice my signature line you will see I am a Remington Armorer so this should put some weight in to what I am telling you since I am telling you to go with the Mossberg over the Remington. Go with a dependable design that has stood the test of time and forget the 887.

Ever handled one?

Go do it, and your mind will be made up in about three seconds.

I like the 870, but there is nothing wrong with a Mossberg - in fact I prefer the safety on the Mossbergs.

You picked a good one. If there were no 870's I would have one by my bed. Infact, I do have a 500 in .410 and it slauters Gophers in my yard. Eight have fallen victem to this deadly little shotgun this summer.

As I said in other posts 590 870 500 nova 887 in that order..

Never shot a 887 and only held a nova and have only seen meh at best reviews from someone who owns something more than just the 887.. Only reviews I've seen raving about them is guys who only own the 887 as their first shot gun so obviously it's going to be biased to a point..

Nothing of it appeals to me and again search other threads and you'll see some of my responses.. But in short not a fan save your money and time go with a proven shotgun.

I have an 887 nitro mag tactical and I have found it to be a fine shotgun... I also have a tried and true 870 Express which is of course One of the most dependable shotguns ever made. that said, I prefer shooting my 887 for a few reasons. One, it just shoulders better (for me) than my 870 and I like the longer forearm Because I can get more comfortable hand placement. It's never given me any problems and I'd trust it in a HD situation without hesitation. They have gotten a bad rap for sure and some of that is deserved. I know there have been some experienced shooters who've had some serious issues with the 887. I guess I was lucky and got a good one. That said, in a zombie apocolypse, SHTF scenario, I'd probably still grab the 870 just because I know it isn't going to fail. Maybe after a couple more years of trouble free shooting with the 887 I'll change my mind.....
