saturday's matier & ross piece in the chronicle is headlined "Secret meeting on A's port-ballpark plan (http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/Secret-meeting-on-A-s-port-ballpark-plan-3763090.php)," but it contains an item about the recent gang violence in visitacion valley with an interesting detail.

The recent explosion of shootings in and around San Francisco's Visitacion Valley involves the third generation of the Sunnydale housing project's Down Below crew -- only this time the targets, the methods and the guns have changed.

"We've seen a drop in the seizures of AK-47s and assault rifles and a rise in handguns," which are easier to carry and conceal, [gang task force Sgt. Tony] Chaplin said.

The clatter of cheap combloc rifles does not befit a city of this stature, and the use of AR's is perceived as a bit heavy-handed and amateurish. Gentlemen are squaring off in manly duels pistol-to-pistol to settle disputes so grandiose there is no other recourse.

hipoints, kahrs, and other cheaper brands are probably the most popular...

Who cares what guns they use. I want to know if they use them purple paralyzing bullets like the gangs in Oakland do. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=510268
