What's the state ruling on Privately Owned Property shooting in CA.

How much distance from state or county roads and what does the state consider a approved backstop? Moving soon and possibly looking at some property

Varies by county zoning, mostly. Not much state-level reg on that.

Hunting regs only apply to hunting as covered by DFG.
Your county ordinances will state range, distance, and rules, if any. There may not be any at all or just a few very vague ones. This is usually true for low-pop nor-cal red counties. Central Coastal and Southern Counties have the most regs usually.

Nearly 110% of cities ban discharge of firearms.

There is no hunting regulation that specifies distance from a road, only from or across. The 150 yard rule is from a building, and even that doesn't apply if it is owned or controlled by you, or if you have permission from the owner.
