I was reading up on the new capital gains tax rates when I saw the headline of "the gun mans accomplice" and right away I thought they found a second person involved. I was wrong. Heres the link. I really hope this isn't where we are heading.....But I guess when one nut looses it, there ten more that want to restrict the rest of the country.
Heres the link. Any thoughts?

one example (http://www.cabelas.com/semiautomatic-smith-wesson-sport-15-rifle.shtml)

I see a M&P 15, patterned to an AR-15, but I still don't see an AR-15 :D. Nothing here says, "AR-15" http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_786006_-1_757784_757784_757784_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

I think that's Cabela's adding that for marketing purposes?

The name "AR-15" is a Colt registered trademark, which refers only to the semi-automatic rifle. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-15)

What's the difference between and M&P and AR15?

Honest question.

So it is congress, not James Egan Holmes that got the ammo and the weapon? We really have a problem with personal responsibility in this country. A person like James Holmes who was accepted by an elite academic program is not capable of discerning that he is purchasing ammo and firearms on his own free will?

It is a legal question at this point, right? OLL and all that?

Good education.

So anything other than a Colt is not an AR15?

I'm lost. :)

Right. I think for convenience we call these semi-automatic rifles AR-15's. But they are technically are not.

So if congress allows a car company to sell a car that runs over my wife can I go after congress in court?

Or the spoon and flatware that made me fat, hell the farmer, the rancher and oh, yeah why not god for making us imperfect? Have we lost all concept of personal responsibility in this society?

And the Gunfight at the OK Corral was in 1881 (on October 26), not 1882.

The movement McDonald's was responsible for hot coffee being hot, the rest was all down hill. XD40 hit it on the head. Personal responsibility isn't personal anymore. Remember you didn't build it, someone helped you so others are responsible for your triumphs just like you are responsible for others tragedies.

We are no longer our brothers keeper we are their scape goat for their bad decisions.

Learn something every day! We have three of these things and only the Colt is an AR15. Spikes is an ST 15 and the Armalite(of all things) is an M 15. Who woulda thunk it?

That's my understanding...and to be accurate (as long as we are not referring to the Colt firearm) we should be saying AR-15 platform or style firearm. That's my story and I'm sickin' to it. ;)

Or just call them what they are. Mines a Bushmaster Patrolmans Carbine. Refer to yours by the name its given.

I saw on here not too long ago to refer to my AR as my MODERN MUSKET since that is what it is...so if I ever mention my AR15, I now use that term!!!

They are all AR-15s because that is the name that the weapon was given by ArmaLite. Colt can take their trademark and blow it out their ***.

I just refer to all of them that use the AR-15 system as ARs just like I refer to all rifles/pistols using a Kalashnikov mechanism as AKs. Are there different models? Sure, and when referring to those specifically, I will use them. But if I'm talking about the type collectively, I usually say AR type or AK type. Just like I would call Colt SAA clones as peacemakers even if Colt owns the name. Like SKS or 1911 or Tokarev...
