Don't know the answer to your question, but have one for you: how the heck is the brass swivel gun you show a breechloader? Looks purely muzzleloader to me; what's the secret?

ok found a ATF letter on breech loading signal cannons and what makes them legal and not a NFA weapon in fact the way i read it , its not classified as a firearm at all, but it looks like fun so i am sure that CA will have some law to fix the fun ....lol

IIRC, 10ga cannons have short chambers and won't chamber commercially available shot shells. Winchester manufactures 10ga black powder blanks that cost about $2 a pop. They are LOUD.

Over the years in my dad's old shop we sold dozens of the Winchester cannons made by the Bellmore Johnson Tool Company. They have been continuously manufactured for something like 120 years and can still be bought.

They are commonly used for regattas and even a local high school here blows off a round when the football team scores.

I have never heard of any issues with these in reference to California law.
