Below are the deer tags and numbers that are still available. I have a few questions for buying my other tag. Right now I have a A zone tag.

So what should be my second purchase? I live in the bay area, but might be working a job this fall in LA.

Questions:
1) Can I use my A zone tag for shooting the following: Archery, .30-06, or in-line muzzleloader?

2) Does an "Archery Only" tag gain me anything? I see this on the DFG site "Zones in Which Archery Only Tags are Valid. An archery only tag is valid for hunt G-10, and during the archery season and general season in all zones except C-1 through C-4 and X-1 through X-12."

3) Is the above mentioned G-10 worth getting an A.O. tag

4) The x9b is where we had the @#$! Rabbit hunt correct? Is that worth it?

Thanks!

1. Yes, a standard A-zone tag will let you hunt the archery, muzzle loader, and rifle seasons.

2. An Archery Only tag means you have to use Archery at all times no matter what the season is in that zone. The only plus side I can see is that Archery Only will extend your hunting season but it's really only worth what you're willing to put into it. If you have no plans on scouting the area before you hunt with archery equipment, then I don't think it would be worth it. If you decide to hunt another zone with an AO tag, make sure the AO tag is valid in that zone.

3. I've never hunted G10 so I couldn't tell you.

4. Same as above.

If you like to archery hunt, and AO tag is definitely worth it. You can archery hunt all the B zones, A zone, and these northern D zones, all during archery season, which is only a few weeks away, or during rifle season with a bow. So, with an AO tag, you can literally hunt half the state. Living in the bay area, you're only a couple hrs from the southern B zone, d3-5, and d6.

Coming to L.A. in the fall. Get yourself a d11 tag, which allows you to hunt d13 and d15 as well. Good luck and see you on the field...
