With dove opener right around the corner, does anyone know of any good deals on shotgun ammo? Is it too early for the smoking deals? I know BPS is have a sale soon on Remington Gun Club loads for $4.99. Do you go for the promo loads or shoot premium stuff? I have shot Winchester AA and the cheap stuff and can't tell a difference.

I've never seen the need to spend big bucks on dove ammo. I used to shoot a lot of promo loads and gun club, and would buy the ShurShot heavy dove loads when they were on sale; never saw a difference. My buddy that is usually the first to limit out, ONLY shoots the cheap stuff. I now reload.

OP. My local Highland CA Walmart had Federal packs of 200 rounds on sale for about $40. This is a bit less than buying 2 of the 100 round bulk packs. Best I've seen so far this year.

Headed to the range next week to get some practice in and get reunited with my Maxus:party: my ammo inventory is running low...

Big 5 usually has sales around the opener. But walmart is always the best deal. I've used cheap federal or winchester loads from walmart for years and they've never failed to kill dove.

Visited with the people of Walmart this morning:puke: The Sporting Goods Dept. had more ammo and dove related gear out. No screaming deals though.

Winchester has a rebate going right now too, right? Two bucks a box IIRC...
