Couple questions regarding backpacking in California. I usually go to the Mammoth Lakes area when I go backpacking. I was using a drop leg holster and wasnt too bothered by it, but I was wondering what other options are available for someone with a backpack? Any experiences or suggestions? Ive been looking at the Wilderness Safepacker as an option.

My Second question however is more legal based.
With the new UOC ban, does this change anything? I have always been slightly confused regarding the laws of National Parks versus state parks, and even more so now by the new law. Can anyone link to another forum post or explain what an average citizen without permits is permitted to do as far as exercising their 2A rights in this area? I live in an area where getting a CCW is for the most part impossible at the moment. Thanks for the help.

There is a section in the camping forum regarding carry in parks and forests. As for what I use for carry, the Blackhawk low ride special ops holster. Itís comfy, secure and plenty visible.

I just got back from Mammoth, I was surprised at how many people I saw walking on the trails. I dont think the leg holster is a good idea (atleast the places I went). We drove and drove to get "away" and still I would run into people on trails. I have an LTC I used this http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Weapon-Fanny-Pack,879,88.htm . Too many travelers around, they have no idea whats in the pack.
