VCDL shows up armed to Million Mom March meetings. I wish we had open carry... However, the even funnier part is that MMM was meeting in a public building so VCDL made it clear they were going to tape the event and publish it on YouTube. Meeting canceled.

Who here has good video equipment? Ted doesn't count :43:

Lol.
What's so scary about people open-carrying in a library? Would they feel better if they knew how many people carry quick-to-deploy pocket knives instead?

So basically the lights get turned on and the cockroaches scurry away.

Amazing what sunshine does. I assume they don't want a bunch of hoplophobes on youtube screaming to ban guns.

I've got a little mini-DV cam.... its a beater I don't mind getting smashed up.. if you guys find any meetings you want filmed it could be fun. I don't have any way to get it onto a computer however. I'd have to mail the tape to someone for that.
I just like how they cancel their meeting because someone who disagrees with their viewpoint has planted his *** in the back row with a camera. Oh how terrifying, a fat nerd with a videocamera!

I was a member of the eastbay group, I voted on a meeting place for 2 years. They only had to get 3 people to agree to a place to meet to have a real meeting. I was all set up to show up wearing my Peace through Superior Firepower T shirt. Those guys couldnt even get 2 more people together. I finally blocked the emails. They are really disorganized.

It simply amazes me that these people didn't want their "truthful" message sent out to the world via YouTube. Curious, very curious indeed.

It may be they are worried that their message will be chopped up into pieces and taken way out of context. Just because the videographers and editors are amateurs doesn't mean they won't follow Big Media's examples.

Or perhaps they want their propaganda diseminated only to the ignorant.

I emailed the Silicon Valley chapter to see if I can get on their email list. I'll post meeting announcements here. . .

Part 1 is funny:

The guy did a good job of standing his ground while that lady badgered him to sign the release.

Here's our chance with slightly bigger fish than the MMMers:
LCAV is holding its 14th anniversary dinner, with Jesse Jackson as speaker.

Legal Community Against Violence
14th Anniversary Dinner
June 28, 2007 at the San Francisco Marriott
6:00 pm Reception
7:00 pm Dinner and Presentation
Their 2007 Honorees include:
Lorrain Taylor - "a woman of strength and compassion whose twin sons were shot
and killed at the age of 22 on a busy street in East Oakland."
Perhaps we can get into a full and frank discussion of what 22 year olds were doing hanging on an Oakland street. A news article said they were working on their broken Cadillac. I suspect a downed car is a good foil for hanging out on the street w/hood up and doing a bit of 'trafficking'. Sorry Lorrain, maybe if you sang a bit less and looked after your family they might be alive still.
I'm sure your midnight basketball will help, though.
...and, oh, my, Sweet Jeezus,: "...also a talented songwriter and recording artist, Lorrain has graciously agreed to sing for us."
I've GOT to be here for this. Also:
California Gun Violence Prevention Coalition: The California Gun Violence Prevention Coalition is a
network of organizations and policy experts working collaboratively statewide to reduce gun violence.
Many of these organizations and individuals have been meeting regularly for more than ten years to
coordinate strategy and share ideas on gun violence prevention. Members of the Coalition have worked
together to educate each other, to educate and provide support to public officials, and to advocate for
positive change in the law. The Coalition has stood behind the successful passage of hundreds of
commonsense gun violence prevention measures in California, making our state a leader in gun violence
prevention law nationwide. The commitment of the Coalition is an example of the passion and dedication
that so many people bring to the gun violence prevention movement and the success that results from
cooperation. LCAV is pleased to recognize the members of the Coalition for their collective efforts with a
Distinguished Leadership Award.
Jeez, looks like you can't find anyone else to honor, so you pull a 12 member letterhead organization out?
Howzabout nominating Allison? Her work has reduced dangerous fixed magazines and caused some California shooters to transition to ugly grips - so they can use detachable magazines.
Or, how about Bill Lockyer? (Make sure you ask him about the Sacto traffic stop in the nurses' uniform, and his protective detail agent who is now a registered sex offender.)
Betcha some 'names' we know will be there. It'll cost some $$ but some closet LCAV members here get the discount plan dinner at $150 instead of $200 :)
I'm sure several of us can relate stories about gun violence prevention. I know how I prevent gun violence :)
[I should tell the Freepers about this too - they always enliven a party and can mob the lobby. It's hard to get ejected when you're decourous and in a well-tailored suit and ordering expensive drinks in the bar!]
And maybe we can sing along with Lorrain!
Maybe we can pass out Calguns info sheets in the lobby!
Maybe we'll get photographs of the people we love, in 8 megpixel detail! Maybe we can get movies with specially-tuned preproduction movie cameras optimized for low-light dining environments <BSEG>
So, who's up for dinner there? Rubber chicken or hormone-free beef ?

Buy a lot of ammo for $150... and I fear I wouldn't have much appetite listening to Reverend Jackson.

Librarian, that's only if you see this in a normal frame of mind.
Now, imagine Jake & Elwood in the fancy restaurant scene in Blues Brothers.
Whole new light?
And perhaps a Person With Disabilities with a physical assistance canine that happens to howl when Lorraine sings? I know the right person, he has the right dog :)
And there's no reason those of us not dining on rubber chicken can't fill the lobby and take pictures of everyone.
Why, I'd bet the valet parkers would be glad to supply car registration information on attendees for a small fee.

Jake: [fakes accent] How much for the little girl? How much for the women?
Father: What?
Jake: Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters... sell them to me. Sell me your children.

Some of us could be the dinner bird in Eddie Eagle costumes. Hand out San Fransico CCW applications and Eddie Eagle GunSafeŽ Program information.

No-No... Coat and tie, excellent shoes, and NRA pins.
Out dress the fearful. You'll note that the VCDL guys were well dressed/business casual at the MMM meeting.

I think what frightened them was the notion of gun-owners who could read. Intellectuals with guns!
