This week the California State Assembly will send hundreds of bills to the State Senate for their approval.
Some of these measures include:
Taxing natural gas users to pay for subsidies for solar power uses
Handing out condoms to prison inmates , appraently to use in acts that are illegal
Making marriage "gender neutral", ill let you ponder that
banning online and catalog sales of ammunition
assorted fees and taxes
setting up a prison sentencing commision, completely removing legisltive oversight and determinate sentencing and putting it in the hands of appointees
etc.. etc..
stand by for updates on banning styrofaom, forced neutring of your dog and cat, and banning toys made with certain chemicals or plastics, AND OF COURSE LIGHTBULBS
the legislature will be going very late tonight and /or tommorrow night with about 200 bills left to go. when the week started 88% of all bills to be debated were democrat.

Unfortunately the democratic process in this state has been totally circumvented by gerrymandering. We really don't have the politicians we deserve in Sacramento.

Can we still slap our kids or did that one pass? If it does I'm pretty sure next year I won't be able to slap my cat.

what i mean is that most people dont vote here. the major cities in this state control the rest of it. the gerrymandering does not help either. we really need this fixed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GerrymanderingLook on the bright side: gerrymandering does NOT affect sheriffs elections (next in 2010) and sheriffs elections determine whether you can easily get a CCW or not (assuming you've never been convicted of a felony, or a drug crime, or been institutionalized). Kern, OC, Fresno, Mendocino and I've even heard rumors that Riverside SOs are now CCW "friendly" (in addition to a LOT of smaller/rural counties).
Sure, keep fighting w/Mike Haas and the NRA/CalNRA in Sacto, but don't forget to organize at the local level for those sheriffs races. The primaries, which often determine the winner, are in 2 yrs. The candidates must file in 1 1/2 yrs. That means you've got less than 1 yr to target all the local ranges, gun shops, gun clubs, sportsmens clubs, etc in your and neighboring counties (since many on the fringes of your county may go to those places in the next county over) to hit w/flyers to start a local (i.e., countywide) organization and start fund raising. Plus, if your incumbent is an anti, you've got to find a viable pro-CCW candidate who's willing to enter the fight. There's no time to waste! You can USE www.californiaccw.org as a rallying point for your county (that's one of the reasons it was started). There's another forum, www.calccw.com, that may also be of help.
Remember, you're more likely to need a CCW than a AW. Plus, there are a lot of viable alternatives for an AW (Mini, M1A, M1 carbine, LAR), but there really is NO SUBSTITUTE for having a CCW when you need it.

The best place to organize locally - for sheriff/CCW and all gun issues - is your local NRA Members' Council...
http://calnra.com/volunteer/
..that link will tell you who they are and when/where they hold their monthly meeting. (Yes, there is only so much you can do at a keyboard - you have to go outside and work with others to make progress locally.)
Remember, if we all go off and do different things, it's not "organizing". (and a large part of the reason gun-rights need protecting in this state)

PS. I know Mike Corona in Orange Co is GREAT on the CCW issue - over 90% issuance. The problem is SO FEW APPLY!!!

Socialized Healthcare, paid for by a mulit-billion dollar tax on business is now passed over to the Senate, and a nearly identical bill passed the Senate this morning.

The Assembly also wants your 12 year old daughter to get vaccinated with a shot that has only been on the market for one year to prevent her from getting HPV, a sexually transmitted disease, as a condition of school attendance. that passed today.
coming up next... "assisted" and government condoned aided suicide....

The trouble is that they take their job title too seriously: Law Maker. I've said this once and I'll say it again, the only answer is to change the state's constitution so that for every new law introduced, two existing laws have to be taken off the books. After a while, we'll be down to a core set of sensible laws and 'lawmakers' won't be able to pass any more without some real soul-searching and pain.

Not my Daughter - I fought the Hospital when she was born over the Hepititis shot, waited until she was 6 months old for that vacination, we just got the eye drops. She will be home schooled if its what it takes. That HPV shot needs some mileage with over 18's until I agree to it as her Father. Screw the State.

That's really messed up. The state should not be able to tell you what to do with your own child. Especially on decisions like that.
