Lately I've spoken to a lot of people about Colt Pythons, my personal favorite are the 6 inch Pythons. But I've heard many others state they prefer the 4 or 8 inch versions. I'll let the results of this poll speak for itself.

Thanks for participating!

i got chub for the 6"

the 4" is more practical but the 6" is just that perfect dimension

8" would be good for pistol hunting but i just pose, so the 6" works perfect for me and my Hollywood necessities :D

The 6" just looks more proportional to me so that would be my preference.

Saw an 8" in great condition at a gun show about a year ago. Almost bought it due to its sheer awesomeness.

I agree.

A 4" would be great for detective work or something like that. I think the 2" is just plain silly, I'd get a Ruger SP101 if I wanted something that short.

Just my 2cents.

You most begin a Python collection with the classic 6 inch Blue.

4" is the most practical for utility. 6" for serious target shooting.

The Python is built on the "I" frame while the King Cobra (KC) is built on the "V" frame.

The KC is based on the Trooper Mk V, while the Python is based on the Officer's Target Model.

Cosmetically the KC has a solid top rib, rather than vented, and the lower lug on the barrel is sloped to the rear, rather than cut parallel with the muzzle

The most important difference is that the KC action is powered by a coil spring as opposed to a V-shaped leaf spring...so the actions feel completely different

It's a 1982 Python, so from my I've gathered I believe it to be Nickel. The blue Python is a 1978 model. The photos did not turn out as nice was I was hoping, so they look a little blurry. I had a chance to get a service Stainless about 15 years ago for $600, but I already had these 2; now I'm kicking myself for not grabbing that one as well.

Thanks!

Here is a photo that shows the finish a little better.

The unofficial poll has closed after 2 weeks of being up and the 6 inch Python gets a full 50% of the votes as far as desireability, with the 4 inch at 39% taking a strong second. Results are pretty close to what I was expected.

Thanks for playing!

6 inches really isn't much to brag abou...oh...that's not the type of Python you were talking about, was it?

Carry on.

Ive owned all of them at one time or another, I carried the 4" and 6" as duty weapons back in the day before semi autos got popular, 4" gets my vote but I did love that 6.

That photo is disturbing and I wish it were not a part of this thread.
