First off, does anyone have a copy of any DOJ letter regarding the legal status of the Kel-Tec SU-16A? I’m specifically looking for the language stating that since the firing mechanism is disabled while the gun is folded, then the stock is not a “folding stock.”
I’m asking because I have recently read about the Saiga-MK:

"Saiga-MK" - "Saiga-M" version with the shortened barrel (415 mm) and interlocking not allowing to deliver fire with the butt folded;
I’m guessing that “interlocking” means that there is a bit attached to the stock that pushes the safety forward when folded.
Do y’all think this would qualify as a non-folding-stock with regards to the state AW laws?
(a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall
also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to
accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
...
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
The CA DOJ has issued no regulatory definition of “folding stock”: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/chapter39.pdf
