when the show was first announced, i ,along with everyone else, was excited about the mp5's. then came the bad news, no mp5's. wtf? i got over it quick, where else could i try out as many guns as i would find there.

when you pull into the fair the first thing you notice are the signs notifying everyone that there will be no mp5's or 50 bmg's. i paid my $5 to park and was surprised at how many people were there on a friday. i guess i wasn't the only one who thought they could beat the crowd. the fee to enter was $10 with a $2 off coupon, same as all the other years.

the first thing i wanted to do was check out the turners on site store for their "smoking deals". well there were some nice guns in there and i did buy a gun, but for the most part i didn't see anything "smoking". the special they were running was 5% off a gun. alright, nothing great.

well after lusting at the cz sp-01 they had in the store, i went to check out the 50 bmgs, because the big boys were there. too bad they were $15 a shot, still great if you never shot one, a little painful if you have. just watching is still fun, and if the length of the line to shoot was any indication, alot of people didn't mind forking over the cash. 1919's were there too, $20 for 10rds.

the tactical shotguns were cool with the reacting targets. cost for those were $10 for 5 rds or $15 for 10rds i believe.

with the increase in ammo prices, i was pleasantly surprised to find that ammo prices on the line were reasonable, very comparable to last year. all the usual guys were there except for cz. too bad, i really wanted to test the pointman 7.

shooting was the best part of everything, i would rather pay $10 to get into this than any gunshow. where else could i have shot a glock 21 sf, loved the feel btw.

overall great time as always :gunsmilie:

Yeah, I was there on Friday at the opening bell. I was disappointed that there was no MP5 but at what they were charging $2.00 for 5 rounds at S/W booth and $1.00 for 3 at the Sig booth. 32 rounds of 9mm $11.00 – $15.00 would have been more than reasonable! But knowing my luck $40.00 to $50.00 would have been the price. I would have felt sorry for the poor fella loading all those rounds. Loading 32 rounds in about 2 minutes for 10 seconds of full auto. Just imaging the brass pile!!

I just wanted to try 1 gun the M&P .45. I shoot well. I was bot to intrested in the shot guns or the current offering of rifles. Maybe next year they should court more custom handgun and rifle builders!

I did not see a Colt, Kimber, Tauras booth!

I was also there on Friday at opening bell. I hear it keeps getting smaller, I would give it 2 thumbs down. Not enough bang for the Buck.

two thumbs down for only ten bucks to get in? Maybe you would be happier with no sportsfair?

I went in today (Saturday) with a list of guns I've wanted to try that my firing range did not have for rent, and came out a happy man having tried them all... :D

Watching Rob Leatham demonstrate practical shooting was great! Todd Jarrett was also a good shooter, but I enjoyed Rob's show more.

The show was a good decision helper for me in discovering new rifle calibers I wanted, and trying out handguns I've wanted to buy but weren't sure how they would shoot. As a result, the Springfield XD and the Smith & Wesson M&P are not for me, but a Wilson Combat 1911 in .45ACP, and a Springfield Armory 1911 in 9mm definitely are! :-) I've also shot a Howa .204 rifle with carbon fiber shrouded barrel and thumb hole stock and that was a new and positive discovery for me (instead of taking out clays piece by piece, I shot the clips holding them to the lines and took them out with one shot :P).

All in all a great day and great fun!

Yah the Shot Show is nice, if your in the trade and like seeing everthing in a gold fish bowl but guns have to be shot to really KNOW what it's like. Where else can you shoot a million dollars in guns for a $5 charge. No transportation, range fees, ammo cost, insurance or guns to clean. The Sports Fair is the best thing going for the shooting community.

My daughter and I had a GREAT time as first time visitors to the shooting fair. She shot trap and 9mm and 223 for the first time, and wants to go back every year and make it an annual tradition, so I hope this shooting fair is around for a very long time. Nothing like it. She says it's like a county fair with guns. Then we saw the hunting puppies for sale and we almost got one. She went fishing too. The prices to shoot are great; $1 to shoot 3 rounds is a great deal. I just couldn't believe the housing prices in Corona along Archibald going to the fair, they're asking more than $500,000 for stucco boxes next to dairy farms. It was a mild day but I had to roll my windows up past the cows, I can't imagine the fragrance on the hot summer days.
