Love Alaska, i go up there at least once a year and its always a great time (in the summer). We have a boat docked in Juneau and take several trips a year. This year was the Glaier bay trip.

The dogs probably wish we lived there, i think they suffer in the california heat because of their thick coats.

Shot of the mounains above the dock just before setting out, it looked alot gnarlier in real life. These mountains are almost as steep as a cliff face, but have trees growing all the way up and the top half is almost perpetually covered in mist.

Had to stop on the way to glacier bay to shoot some skeet since the weather was so nice

Our Captian fabricated a skeet launcher that would attach to the railing on the lower decks, it worked great and spent a few hours just shooting.

This is the very last glacier in glacier bay, it had been caving hard all summer and filled the area with icebergs.

On the way back from fishing in the tender, we came across a grizzly cub stranded on an iceberg, it was extremely cold that morning and he was a good mile out into the water (even though he looks close to shore)

We called the park rangers but they said they have to let nature take its course.

The fishing was pretty weak in the area, Samlon were running but nowhere near the places we were at. Caught moslty Small halibut and Rock Cod, and TONS of dunbenous crabs

Overall it was a great trip, my dad brough his float plane and spent most of his time flying around while me and my brother fished and crabbed. Our boat captian was also quite a chef and made some awesome meals

If it wasn't for the bazzillion feet of snow every winter I could live there.

I just got back from Anchorage on Monday. The fishing was terrible for us as well. We have family up there that we visit once a year. Definetly the worst fishing so far. I did get a text last night from my nephew at 930 saying the sun is shining and the salmon are running in the Kenai:mad:

Very cool. My brother goes up in the summer months and flyfishes. (He's a doc - that's what they do.. hah)

Nice pics of the boat, and great color on the ocean and ice floes.

I just got back last Sunday from soldotna. I was able to land 8 really nice sockeyes but I had to work for them. Took two halibut trips and caught 4 fish all over 60 pounds each. I had to buy another freezer when I got home. Alaska is an awesome place, I try to go every year either to hunt or fish. Every time I go I threaten to not come back home :)

Gorgeous. I've always wanted to get up that way, and spend some time doing what you did. Looks like a fabulous trip.

Very nice.

Work is taking me to Alaska for 4-6 weeks starting in August. Mostly in anchorage and won't be staying over the weekends, but I am sure I'll find something to do.

Good deal. My father is on a plane now headed for either the Kenai or Tsiu for reds (not really sure what the final plan is). I need to get up there.
