Dont wanna do it, but I need money :banghead:

Here is one of my heirloom keepsakes, a Late Mamoyama-Early Edo period Katana.

I got this on accident when a family freind had gotten into the same situation as I am in now. He originally picked it up from his uncle who was a marine stationed in the pacific during WW2. Story goes, he traded a lead slug for a steel bar.

Now, condition isnt exactly "shiny" but the steel is in VG condition still nice and sharp. It has a few creases in the steel that show how the sword was made, it was multiple pieces of steel pounded together, folded, folded, and folded. It has 3 small knicks on the edge, possibly from loppin' heads during war time. also has 2 knicks on the sides, which are more than likely defense knicks.

The scabbard is a nice polished wood with a hard black cover, wrapped in leather. The leather is set from WW2 and shows significant wear. Scabbard does have splitting wear at the mouth, but it isnt splitting anymore; possibly the reason for the leather. Also has a ring for a sling on it.

Tsuba is a round type with dogs molded to it, 1 brown, 1 gold, and 1 black; a thing of beauty. From the style of build, can only be made by 1 of 3 noble houses in japan.

Grip is something I find really interesting, the tang was broken and rebuilt by tradition of japanese nobility (to keep the original half for good luck) but that could have been done hundreds and hundreds of years ago. I never had the chance to find the original house, but it would be pretty awesome to find the family. Sword is still mighty solid, otherwise it wouldn't have gone this far.

The handle has the sharkskin piece with eel skin over that, and then resined silk wrapped around that. Inside the handles are three gold bulls to mark grip pattern. Also gold bulls on the trim. There is a piece of the silk missing where the finishing peg was installed, probably lost during WW2.

I love the piece to bits but I can't keep it. Asking $4.6k NO TRADES but I do need money immediately so I might be willing to slack on the offer.
