My wife's grandfather passed away.
Her uncle who lives in Ohio is the executor of the estate. He wants to transfer the firearms collection to my wife.
The collection includes several shotguns (non-detachable mags) ad a .22 rifle.
I'm clear that Fed and CA law allow the inheritance to occur w/o a FFL.

It is unclear to me how her uncle can ship the firearms to my wife in CA?

Would it be possible for the uncle to mail the guns to himself, C/O my wife and have him open the box when he visits CA at some point in the future?

I know there are many threads on this, but I was getting confused.

Thanks!

He could do that, or just ship them directly to your wife - as executor, distributing them to the beneficiary is one of his duties.

Or, if he's coming out here, he could just bring them along; no problem at all in cars; airplanes require cases.

Since they appear all to be long guns, USPS should happily take them.
