It is what it is- crap, but if you are willing to give your AK a good cleaning afterwards, it will get the job done.

I was asking because we have a Mini 30 and had issues with it firing. As soon as we changed ammo...problem solved. Thanks for the input.

It's not corrosive, shoots fine through my Saiga and I've shot a lot of it with no issues.

@cfd2474 - why is it crap?

Works fine as long as you have plenty of cleaning supplies....

It's crap because it is a very dirty burn, but if you don't mind cleaning, it gets the job done.

I’ve fed probably close to a thousand rounds of Tulammo 7.62 x 39 to my SKS and never had a problem. It’s $4.97 for 20 rounds @ Walmart by my house and it works every time :)

I wouldn't say it's "crap". Maybe some Mini-30's don't like it, but SKS's, AK-47's and CZ 527's seem to like it just fine. It's certainly not match ammo, but consider the gun it's chiefly meant for these days--the AK47 platform--not exactly a precision champ. :D But it does do the job for its intended purpose.

Besides its almost an insult to shoot an AK at paper... so much destructive power wasted on a 25 cent target..

What ammo isn't dirty?

I shoot it regularly, 9mm, .223, 7.62x39, .45acp. Never any problem for me.

Yep, fine for my Commie rifles.
But not the x39 AR.

I think your problem is the Mini-30. From my understanding it can be picky with steel cased ammunition. What exactly were your problems... Feeding? Extracting? Ejecting? Accuracy?

I've never had a problem with Tulammo but that is in my AK, and I've never had a problem with my AK because it eats and spits out anything I choose to feed it.

As for burning dirty, in my honest opinion I've noticed little to zero difference between Tulammo and the dozen other brands I put through my AK.

It's fine. Just keep your AK lubed. Eventually, you need to run a patch though it and clean the barrel & maybe scrub the chamber with a brush.

For Mini-30s and 7.62X39 ARs, the chamber may be tight or too tapered compared to an AK. That may be the issue there for reliability. My old Egyptian AK has a pretty generously sized chamber and eats ammo like Rosie O'Donnell eats doughnuts.

It's not crap, its cheap and awesome. Guns that can't handle it are crap imho.

It's cheap, and my AK and SKS shoot it flawlessly. Accurate enough for the plinking I do in the desert at 40-80 yards on bowling pins and paper targets so my friends that also use it and I are satisfied with it.

What are your opinions on this ammo?

I can't shoot it cuz it's made from steel and my rifle range has banned all steel!!! Besides that I don't shoot anything that corrosive in nature. Even imported ammo that says "non- corrosive" is corrosive in some way.

I agree the ammo is dirty but if its soooo "crappy" then would you stand in front of a gun shooting it? Do you have any doubt that bullet is so crappy it wont put a scratch on you? I rest my case..I shot 3 boxes of that so called crap with no jams...plenty of smoke and sparks but no jams

What are your opinions on this ammo?

I think you CAN NOT go WRONG if you remember this rule: Eastern Bloc ammo for Eastern Bloc guns.

With that said, I THINK the polymer coated wolf (polyperformance or WPA or classic military) might shoot okay out of the ar-15.

Rugers are so dainty that I would not chance any steel case through them.

Depends on the Ruger. If you're talking about the SR-556, I agree with you. It seems to be kinda fussy about what it likes without stovepiping. On the other hand, the Mini-14 will happily digest Eastern Bloc ammo and ask for more. There's a guy I know who bought his Mini-14 in 2000, shoots cheap Russian Golden Tiger almost exclusively through it on a very regular basis, and has zero problems.

This is one reason I generally don't much care for AR-15's. Some AR's will eat anything, and others are kinda fussy. If the SHTF, I'd rather have a 1.5 or 2 MOA firearm (recent Mini's do this) that I *know* works with *anything*, than a high-precision sub-MOA instrument that might not. I'd also take an AK over an AR for the same reason; AK's will eat *anything*. Remember what the round was designed for, 200 yard shooting and less. At those distances, the cheap Russian ammo does the job just fine.

Get it if you can find it. I have used it in my WASR10-63 with no problems.

I know this thread is old, but I have a month old (582) mini 30, and tulammo is all I have shot through it. I called Ruger tech support and they stated that as long as it meets CIP standards its ok to shoot it. I verified the Russian Inspection House stamp, and have shot it ever since. I killed a buck last weekend at about 150 feet. In one shoulder, out the other- deer dropped immediately. Took out 2/3rds of the top of his heart with 124 gr hollow pionts. Yes, its dirty, but no issues yet.

It shoots fine, but I have had problems with it expanding in the chamber. It will only get shot in the cheap commie guns though.

The main problem you will have is that MOST ranges do not allow it.

Wolf is awesome cuz its our best source of *cheap* ammo. where would prices be without it?!? of course I mostly just save it for a rainy day due to the mag issue. nothing wrong with Mexican match ammo though.

shot 200+ rounds through my in law's ak in one day and not one problem at all. also shot around 500+ rounds in my beretta 96 without one problem. it goes bang every time so far for me. in my beretta, the chamber gets dirty rather quickly. but it is not a problem, it is easy to clean. for plinking i would buy them over others.
