I've been hunting rabbits with shotguns for the past year, and I finally found a spot I can use a 22. Super exciting, and a very different kind of hunting experience.

Only I forgot the .22 and only had 45 grain .223 lol. Back legs were still good and in the freezer.

Good shooting. That's the best way to save meat on peter cottontail. A few more of those bad boys and you'll have a great meal for the crockpot. We managed 6 yesterday for dinner tonight.

Pretty close shot, about 10 or so yards. Heading out tomorrow morning for a few more:)

Thank you, with my stupid cell phone. That was a 210 yrd shot :D My buddies dad was blown away I got it, gave me a big high five. I have to thank the Appleseed project and Francis Marion for teaching me to shoot right.

Anyone eat the squirrels?

Everyone who hunts tree squirrels eat them, they are tasty! It is also legally required.

$h1+... I wish I could hunt them in my local forest. My county is just outside of the northern border for tree squirrel huntin'. Sux too because I'm seeing more and more of them every year, but I doubt I will be able to hunt them again in my lifetime in Berdoo National forest... But, a man can dream...

Friend owns an orchard and we regularly take cottontails with a .22 cal air rifle, anywhere from 15-35 yds. Makes for a great meal when the meat is intact.

What scope is that? I'm thinking of getting one for my 795, has tech sights right now.

I love bunny hunting with .22!!

The cotton tails around my place are used to a lot of activity, so they wait until the last second to run away. Most of my shots are ten yards or under, so I try for headshots most of the time.

I think I'll see if I can get one or two this evening :)

GJC It's actually just a cheap Center Point scope that I bought at Walmart for about $40. Gets the job done up to about 100 yards. I can hit golf balls with it at 50 yards from a bench every time. It's those free standing shots while hunting that I'm having trouble with. Still new to rifle hunting. Working on it.

I have the same scope,! great scope for the money. My navy seal buddy is acually impressed with it using it on an AR he is building to go Coyote hunting with me.If your ever in san diego let me know, we will go to some of my spots.
