I just caught this on Arfcom:

Slap an A2 stock, and a bullet button (or similarly functioning clone) and are we good to go in Ca?

Correct.

Thanks, leelaw. Why do you suppose no domestic manufacturers have capitalized on an ar shotgun upper?

same reason no one's capitalized on an AR that takes M1 carbine mags
-no one's thought of it yet

What would be the point? It looks/sounds cool, but it serves no purpose. Unless you just really need to kill 20 quail in 25 seconds?
The ammo is most likely worse (or at least no better) ballistics/stopping power than any of the other larger bore AR uppers (6.5/6.8/458/50Beo), and with a rifled bore birdshot is worthless, without it slugs are worthless as compared to the above cartridges.
I'm sure you could think of a few instances it would be useful in, but I don't think there is anything it can do that other cartridges can't do as well with more versatility? It is cool to see though.

I saw some people interested in buying Safir Arms T-14 shot guns. This is an AR style .410 shotgun. Let me inform Dealers as well as customers that Safir Arms is now operational with its own distribution facility in Willingboro NJ. T-14 classic Models will be in stock in next 2-3 days. Picture given below. The model we will have in stock is flat top with detachable carry handle available as an option. in a week or two, we will have T-14 Compacts in stock as well. while we recommend buying the complete shot gun, you can buy just an upper if you already have an AR-15 Lower and convert your rifle to a 410 shotgun.
We will soon carry full accessories like detachable stock, 10, 13 capacity Magazines.

I have one of their uppers, only issue is that it is so ammo sensitive. Not all 2.5" ammo will work. Remington Rifled Slugs functions the best. I've also have had some good luck with Remington Premier Nitro Sporting Clays with #8 shot.

There are plenty of cool looking semi-auto shotguns already.
