God speed to all. I wish I tried to get out there for this weekend, but darn plans sometimes fall through.

Of course I haven't seen a buck in my place for a couple of weeks now. My bow and I are ready but...

The start of A zone archery is one of the hardest times of the year. Knowing that I'm not out hunting when I could be is brutal! Good luck to anybody hunting.

Ill wait for d-13 and a-31 high altitude, late season cool weather hunting. I used to hunt A zone, but its tough to hunt in 100+ degree weather.

woohooooo day one of deer season!!!! i went out today with my bow to the unlikely area near pyramid lake, castaic. it was the only place that i could manage today to be within an hour of LA, but lo and behold i actually saw one deer. too young! a cute little fawn. will go further north next time.

If you're hunting Pyramid Lake right now.... you may want to recheck your zone map. Might be a just bit early to hunt d13

The Mills fire F'd up our hunt. On our way up we saw a group of 6 bachelor bucks chilling at very low elevation, probably from the fire up high.

Saw 15-20 deer and 7 bucks. Nothing better than a forkie. I did draw on a forkie at 30 something yards as he got up and trotted away but I couldn't get him to stop and turn. While looking for a buck we busted I drove into a deep rut and put a dent into my front bumper. doh!

I've seen about the same as Lewdogg....about 15-20 so far. just a few small bucks. Mostly does with fawns. I've got some nice bucks on the camera but they are coming at night. 2 -3 weeks ago and this would of been a quick season. This last heat wave in my area really shut em down in the day.

That's early. What general area are you hunting. The bucks up where I'm hunting in D5 still have the balls on the tips of their antlers. I saw a big fork that has big balls(haha) on his antlers. I'm hoping he splits again and goes 4x4 he also had the start of some eyeguards. One more month.

Dirt - that was in A-zone. We saw 7 bucks total and all were velvet sans 1. Only 3 were legal bucks.
