Hi all, I know this question pops up from time to time and I don't want ask this but I couldn't find any information in my research on this site or anywhere else.

I recently purchased a Colt O1991 100th Anniversary model with a blued finish. I fired about 100 rounds through it and it was awesome. Needless to say it's in mint condition except for having 100 rounds down the pipe. If I were to sell it right now, how much it be worth and how much should I ask for it? Would it appreciate in value?

Thanks,

Sergius

That seems very low for a Colt, let alone an anniversary model that was only made for a year...

I use gunbroker as a check to see what folks are bidding for like models.

Gunbroker has a bunch listed under $900 with no bids, so, I'd say start at $850 and see if anyone bites...

I checked out GB and couldn't find any of the same models with the 100th anniv. roll mark.

I added 100 to the search...there seems to be a Variety of results (tiers, and various marks). Looks like you did the obvious, so I'll wait for a colt guy to step up with an opinion.

I am sorry, but that is all I can afford right now.

It is a nice gun, not especially rare. You could probably sell it for a little less than you paid for it if you just want to get out of it and get most of your money back.

If you think that you will flip it for a big profit, it is highly unlikely.

556 is a known skinflint, I have $505 cash.

On the open market, yes, to someone who is not paying attention, perhaps much more can be had.

the 100 Years of Service rollmark is nice, i have two 1991's with it but it honestly doesn't add much value to the gun or make it especially collectable since they did it all year

id say your pistol is worth around $800 in California

Forget about the 100 year roll mark making it an investment or collector piece. It's just another Colt 1911, tons were produced and there was no production limit. If it were unfired and mint in 2061 (150yr mark) then you might get a little more.

I'd say start a $900 but be prepared to take $800.

Thanks! Now everybody knows :(

Truthfully, I paid $300 for the 1991 I shoot every day, like I said, IDK what it's worth but I could pay $500 for it. I need a .45 for downstairs.

List for $900, be happy with $800.

It's probably best to keep it then I suppose. I must have paid too much for it. Oh well, it was an impulse buy anyways. Sometimes you do well, sometimes you don't. I love it though and that's all that matters I guess.

Just keep it. Shoot it. Love it. Having a Colt 1911 in your collection is never a bad thing.

Basic laws of economics

1. Supply and Demand: If supply is greater than demand, prices will fall. If demand if greater than supply, prices will increase.

2. Worth: Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

If you can find someone willing to pay you $1,000,000 for your pistol, then it is 'worth' $1,000,000.

What did you pay for it?

There are some die hard Colt 1911 fans. The problem is, they already have Colt 1911's and are looking for a bargain to buy another. I just bought a brand new 5" Colt XSE and only paid $950. I would have preferred to pay less, but that is the one I could find that was on the list, when I was ready to buy. I wanted a genuine Colt full 1911 for the nostalgia.

Once fired, the gun drops about 10-15% in value. On top of that, any money spent on shipping, sales tax and DROS you just have to eat.

If you want to sell- I think the $800-900 range sounds about right for a used gun. You may have to wait a while to get that price.

OP, pay no mind to these lowball offers of $500 and $505. I will gladly pay you $510!

In reality, I'd probably ask in the 800-1100 depending on where you are in the state, if its on the roster or not, and the condition which you already said was pretty pristine. Throw up a pic or two and it'll help. Does it have basic GI sights or does it have adjustable target sights, like Bo-Mar etc. Standard or skeletonized trigger, hammer, or any other goodies. Factory case, box, and other things like mags. Anyway, I'd keep it but if you must, you could get 850 or better more than likely.

It is a stock 01991 Colt with the 100 Year Roll mark...Used with 100 rounds done the pipe.

As for the above questions:

It is on roster
GI sights
Solid Trigger and hammer
Sounds like it has all the factory items (box, mags, etc.)

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/36291

So for a new one (without the 100 years service roll mark) we are talking $849 on the auction sights and $889 at Buds.

I am going to guess his could sell for around $800...but hey, this is Calguns so go ahead and post it for $1500 and start bumping it. ;)

I walked away with mine for just under $1K, tax, DROS, etc.
