View Full Version : Has anyone choked a Mossberg 590?

Just wondering if anyone has paid the cash to drill and tap, then put an IC or Mod choke in a 590.

Also wondering if you guys think it would be worth it.

I really love my 500 combo, but with the short barrel I have low capacity and a cylinder bore, which I dont like ( I want tight groups, I, like everyone else, am accountable for every pellet).

I was thinking, sweet, Ill get a 590 for HD, the military uses it, it must have a choke... and dang I am wrong and it sucks hard. I could save the $400 for the gun, and the $100 for the drill and tap, but I am just wondering if it would really be worth the extra cash. Im too tight on money now, but once I get a career, or leave the state, I am thinking of doing it.

Hmmm, noticed that there is also the option of a "Vang Comp System"

I have an 18 1/2" barrel with interchangeable chokes for my 870, and I love it. Flite-contol wad loads are awesome, but I really like being able to grab a bulk box of Federal shotgun shells from Walmart, screw in a full or extra full choke, and get similar patterns to buckshot for training purposes. The choke system will pay for itself in a couple practice sessions.
