Ok, I have gone through years of rotating through guns for carry. Finally found my nirvana as it were. I have 5 guns on my list, with three core weapons. My most popular are: Ruger LC9 because it carries so easily, a Glock G30SF because you have to have a 45, and my G19. My two other guns that get some carry time is a Gen 4 G21 and a Springfield Loaded.

What say you out there? What do you carry, and why?

No CCW. I carry hopes and dreams.

Outside of the fact that I'm only limited to three guns on the Sac Co. permit (because that will make us all safer), I've got a G19, an M&P9 and an M&P9c. I just purchased a FDE Gen 4 G17 and I'll see how that compares to the ones already on my permit. If it proves reliable and I like how it shoots it's quite possible it'll knock something off my permit. Eventually however, my plan is to consolidate on one design and either have two G17/19s and a G26 or two M&P9s and an M&P9c.

Not in my section of the PRK. If I could, it would be a Springfield EMP or Ultra Compact.

My everyday carry is a Kahr PM9 because it's so concealable and comfortable.

My full-size backcountry carry is a Glock G20SF because it's far more powerful than a .45. The G29SF would be fine too. I chose the G20 over the G29 because I wanted a longer sight radius and more velocity since backcountry carry isn't as critical for perfect concealment. 10mm will take down any predator on the continent including Griz and Browns.

My current mid-size is a Sig P228. But I'm thinking of replacing it with something like a Glock G19, Springfield XDM 9, Steyr S9 A1, or an S&W M&P 9. I want to get rid of the decocker so all my platforms perform the same.

I have an old Colt Officer's 1911 that I sent to Robar and put way too much money into it. I love it but it pretty heavy. I wish I bought something like an Ultra Carry and put the money into that. I carry a Glock 36 when I don't want the weight of the Colt.

My low profile for the last month has been my new M&P Shield. Though when my Crossbreed shows up for my newer P938 I see myself going with that a lot.

I've also got a S&W PC 629 that I'll carry as a trail gun depending on where I am.

I can't seem to put down the Springfield Loaded 1911 45 that I picked up yesterday. But that's only when I'm in my apartment. I can't carry it outside.

I use a S&W M&P 40C for most of my everyday carry because it's so comfortable in my Crossbreed Supertuck. When I'm feeling retro it's my full sized 1911 in a T&T holster.

1. HK P2000sk
2. Glock 19 Gen 4
3. Kimber CDP Pro

I'm a lefty with fairly small hands. I chose them because they "fit" me, I can easily work the controls, and they are dependable quality guns.

My fav carry pistol is a Kahr K40. Small enough to conceal very well yet big enough to get a full grip without a hanging pinky and the 40S&M round has plenty of power.

G29sf is working well right now for me. Have a G20sf and a Les Baer TRS 1911 on my permit as well, but they are too big for me to conceal in summer clothing.

1. Taurus PT709 slim
2. Sig 2022 9mm

I carry the taurus daily. It's so small and conceals perfectly with a crossbreed holster. It's been a great little gun. No problems at all with ammo pickyness or jamming.
I don't carry the sig hardly at all. It's too big for EDC with my clothing. It would work with bulky clothes or a large jacket but it's just not comfortable.
The sig has a de-cocker which I really like. I with the Taurus had one.

KelTec P32 because it is tiny and easy to carry. Glock 26 because it is light and I can hit with it out to 50 yards on the range, so I feel comfortable shooting it. Nighthawk 1911 when I am out somewhere that I feel a .45 is needed, and because it can shoot quarter size groups from a machine rest at 50 yards.

Glock 23, Glock 30sf, or Ruger LC9. I just rotate weekly. I trust all three completely and use worthy ammo. So, I only rotate because I would feel badly keeping perfectly capable firearms in the safe all the time.

On my time lately; S&W 5906 (accurate & powerful enough) or a Glock 31 (great accuracy & powerful enough). These two are what's been holstered the most lately - they're reliable and are noticably more accurate than some other choices.

So looking at all suspects within your line up *why* would you select the revolver on a given day??

Ron-Solo

Ruger LCP, Ruger LC9, M&P 9c are my three primary depending on what I'm wearing. Sometimes I'll carry my P2000, M&P 9, 92f, 92fs Inox, Smith 669, Makarov, or M&P 45.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

Frankly, the whole concept of restricting someone to only three carry guns doesnt make much sense to me, nor does the arbitrary manner in which Sheriffs and Chiefs apply their policies. CCW permits should be issued by the state. I think training, proficiency, and knowledge of laws is a good idea if done with common sense like it is for Arizona permits.

What's wrong with the revolver? You know what they say... It doesn't get more reliable than a wheel gun.

Carry rotation?

Carrying a bunch of different weapon systems at different times seems like a bad idea. It could spell confusion at the worst possible time. I prefer to keep things simple and predictable so that I can count on muscle memory and a predictable and familiar feeling when I pull the pistol.

Duty gun: M&P 9 Full size.
BUG: M&P 9C
Off duty warm weather: M&P 9C
Off duty cold weather: M&P 9 Full size

2 guns. They feel and handle almost identically. Triggers and sights are the same. Operation is the same. There are lots of different handguns that I own and can legally carry. That doesn't mean I want to or need to. I'd vote for picking a singular weapon system and becoming absolutely competent and precise in all manners of its use.

1. HK45c
2. HK USP 9mm

I only own three pistols (the ones listed and a Beretta Neos). I have big hands and the HK45c was slightly more compact without losing much sight radius from USP fullsize. + It was a .45 vs 9mm. I can shoot the .45acp just as well if not better than my 9mm. Super reliable (not a single malfunction except one pectoral slide bite when quick drawing and shooting from the hip without canting the weapon away from my chest). I drew blood that day...but it didn't leave a scar. :(

I go back and forth between the Ruger LCP and the Glock 21. I wouldn't say there's any sort of planned rotation, just whatever I feel most comfortable with that day. Usually that's the LCP.

S&W Shield .40 for summer lightweight pocket gun

Sig 226 MK25 other summer gun with lighter weight

Springfield TRP for winter or dressier times

Shield is kinda the favorite, it's easy to stick in your pocket on your way out the door and not to heavy with shorts on.

Kahr PM9, Crossbreed holster, Black hills 115gr extra power. Thin lightweight and and easy to carry.
Sig 239 SAS .40, Crossbreed holster, Corbon 140gr. Weighs 27oz but carries well with a good gun belt.
Sig 220 .45 Galco belt holster, Winchester T series 230gr. Weighs 28oz, conceals easily with a light jacket. Extra 8rd magazines are thin and easy to carry.

S&W M60 (no dash) in a pocket holster or G27 IWB in summer. I carried the G27 off-duty for years as my on-duty weapon was a G22. This summer was the first that I've tried pocket carry, it works well if you have a small enough pistol/large enough front pockets.

G19 IWB in winter when jackets, etc. make it easier to conceal.

That's pretty much it. I don't switch back and forth to speak of (the G27 rarely comes out these days) in order to avoid the "which weapon am I carrying today" syndrome.

Don't have my ccw yet but hopefully will get it in the coming months. I have a glock 19, just bought a ruger lcp (in jail) and pre-ordered a m&p shield (9mm). That should cover all areas pretty well, I think.

Just out of curiosity, where did you buy your Neos? I was at Oak Tree last weekend and they had three in the case with these taunting little signs, "LE only" So stupid. They seem like an inexpensive fun pistol that I would buy, if I could.

I had mines before it dropped of the list. My son loves shooting it. My hands are just too big for it. It is very accurate and reliable though. :)

Doc, how is that light from Crimson Trace treating you? Do you happen to have an X300 to compare it to?

It's just the red laser.

But we have them on four of our PD guns.

We train with the sights and the red dot follows our eyes rather than vice versa.
